The Thomas Traceable Infrared Dual Lasers Thermometer with Type-K Probe is an infrared thermometer that measures surface temperature from a safe difference for use in manufacturing, electrical, industrial, and food-service systems. The infrared sensor measures temperature from -60 to 550 degrees C (- 76 to 1022 degrees F), with an accuracy of + or - 2% of the measurement or 2 degrees C (3 degrees F), whichever is higher. The Type-K thermocouple sensor measures temperature from -64 to 1400 degrees C and from -83 to 2552 degrees F, with an accuracy of + or - 2% of the measurement. The thermometer has a 12 to 1 distance-to-spot measurement ratio with laser sighting to pinpoint the measurement area. The thermometer is traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology standards, indicating that it is calibrated to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025 levels. This Thomas thermometer is used to measure the temperature of hot and cold food products, heating and air conditioning units, electrical connections, engine parts, and other surfaces.

Digital infrared thermometers measure the temperature of surfaces from a distance. They may measure temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. Infrared (IR) thermometers work by focusing the infrared radiation emitted by a surface onto a detector called a thermopile. The thermopile turns the heat into electricity, which is measured and converted to a temperature reading. The reading is then displayed on an LCD display. IR thermometers are used to measure temperature when an object is fragile, as in ear thermometers, or dangerous to be near, as in the case of industrial equipment.

Thomas Scientific manufactures lab supplies, equipment, chemicals, and instruments for scientific research. It is a registered contractor for the United States Federal Government. The company was founded in 1899 and is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA.
