The TPI 343/C1 water-resistant dual-channel K-type thermocouple digital thermometer with probes is for use in applications requiring a broad range of temperature measurements, including furnaces, kilns, freezers, and other industrial applications. It measures temperature from -50 to 1350 degrees C (-58 to 2462 degrees F), with a best accuracy of + or - 0.3% of reading plus 1 degree C (1.8 degree F). The K-type thermocouple sensor has a broader temperature measurement range than a thermistor sensor but provides lower accuracy. This dual-channel thermometer has two inputs for connecting K-type temperature probes, allowing the operator to measure the temperature of two samples at one time. The thermometer can be calibrated in an ice bath to help preserve measurement accuracy. The LCD screen shows the current temperature, the highest or lowest measurement values for the session, or the difference between two readings. The thermometer can record readings in its internal memory. The operator can choose to display readings in degrees C or F. The hold feature keeps a reading on display so that it can be recorded. Two K-type thermocouple probes with 4' lead and fiberglass insulation are provided for taking measurements, and the meter accepts other K-type thermocouple probes with a sub-mini connection. The included rubber boot fits onto the thermometer body to help protect the thermometer from damage due to accidental drops, and the boot has a tilt stand for propping up the thermometer on a flat surface. The thermometer operates on one 9V battery (included). To conserve battery life, the thermometer automatically turns off after 30 minutes of non-use. A low-battery indicator alerts the operator when the batteries need to be changed. A soft carrying case helps protect the thermometer from damage during transport and storage.

Digital thermocouple thermometers measure the temperature of air, liquids, or surfaces. They may measure temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. Thermocouple thermometers are composed of two conductors of different metals, usually alloys of the same metal, which touch at the sensor end of the thermometer. The difference in conductivity between the two metal pieces produces a voltage flow between the sensor end and the open end of each conductor, which can be used to determine the temperature. Different alloys are used for different temperature ranges. Thermocouple thermometers are used in applications that require a large temperature range and do not require a high degree of accuracy. These thermometers are used in kilns, turbine exhaust systems, and furnaces.

Test Products International (TPI) manufactures test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, manometers, multimeters, and test leads. The company, founded in 1997, is headquartered in Beaverton, OR.
