Amprobe AM-520 HVAC Multimeter with Non-Contact Voltage Detection and Temperature

The AM-520 HVAC Multimeter is designed for HVAC professionals to quickly measure temperature, micro amps and capacitance. It is packed with features such as temperature probes for taking differential temperature measurements, non-contact voltage detector, voltage, resistance, capacitance, microamps and frequency.

The AM-520 comes with a set of detachable test leads that measure AC/DC current to 10 amps, AC voltage to 750V, DC voltage to 1,000V, resistance to 40 megaohms, capacitance to 4,000 microfarads, frequency to 10 megahertz (MHz), and microamps. The meter comes with a K-type thermocouple probe for measuring temperature. The meter's non-contact voltage detector senses AC voltage without making contact with the circuit. A built-in flashlight allows the user to read component values and name tags in dark areas. The microamp reading identifies current changes in flame detector applications. The 4,000 microfarad capacitance rating is for testing run/start capacitors on motors. A liquid crystal display (LCD) shows readings both in digits and on a 41-segment bar graph. The display is backlit for visibility in low light. The relative zero mode stores a reading in memory to use as a zero point for subsequent readings, allowing for quick comparison of readings. The maximum or minimum reading mode displays the highest or lowest reading in a session to track a sudden increase or decrease in readings. The hold function keeps a reading on the display, even after the meter is disconnected. An audible continuity sensor confirms that the circuit conducts electricity, and a diode test detects whether the circuit's diodes work properly. An auto power-off mode turns off the unit after 15 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. The back of the meter has a tilt stand that allows the meter to be propped on a surface for hands-free use. A probe holder on the body of the meter stores probes when not in use. The meter comes with a Velcro strap for hanging.

The AM- 520 is perfect for the installation and repair of AC units. This includes voltage checks, current draw, startup capacitors, temperature (high and low side of the system). It checks flame sensors on heating systems powered by natural gas or propane with microamp function as well as checksthermostat voltage and wiring continuity.
