Amprobe LAN-1 LAN Cable Tester
The Amprobe LAN-1 LAN cable tester is a circuit tracer that locates and traces data cables and connectors to identify shorts, miswirings, and open circuits. The tester evaluates most common cable types, including 10/100 base-T, 10 base-2, RJ45 modular, AT&T 258A, EIA/TIA 568A/568B, and Token Ring cables and RJ45 and BNC connectors A buzzer indicates an error in the cable. The tester evaluates cables up to 300m long. Eighteen red and green LEDs indicate the source or test and Loopback and Remote Tests can be performed. Circuit breaker tracers identify and locate the correct circuit breaker for a particular electrical outlet. The tracers usually include a transmitter, which plugs into the outlet that is being tested, and a receiver, which is a handheld device used to identify the proper circuit breaker in the fuse box. Breaker tracers may also include additional features, like non-contact voltage detection, which allows it to detect the presence of voltage without being plugged in, and the ability to test ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) and arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) protected circuits.
