The Jenway 6715 UV/VIS spectrophotometer has a 190 to 1100nm wavelength range, a 1.5nm spectral bandwidth, and a xenon lamp, and is used in life science applications and general spectrophotometry applications including photometrics, spectrum scanning, multi-wavelength analysis, kinetics, and quantitation. The 1.5nm bandwidth provides lower detection limits and improved signal-to-noise performance. The instrument provides multi-user login and password protection for up to ten users. Each stored method can be secured to any of three levels, including open access, read-only access, and password-protected personal methods. Post-measurement tools ensure that results are presented exactly to each user's requirements. The xenon lamp provides accurate readings and extends lamp life. The color touchscreen provides navigation, user login, access to pre-programmed methods, and test results. On-board memory stores up to 500 results, and an SD card slot provides or test result portability and system cloning that ensures common laboratory practices. The instrument also has USB, analog, and 36-pin parallel ports to provide connection to a computer or printer (sold separately).

A spectrophotometer is a device used to measure and analyze aspects of light absorption in liquids and solids. Readings are displayed in digital or analog format. A spectrophotometer can have a handheld body for field use, or a bench-top body for laboratory applications. It may have one or more adapters to enable it to measure surfaces or liquids. A spectrophotometer is used for testing and measuring in anatomy, chemistry, agriculture, process plant, food and beverage making, homeland security, and educational applications.

Bibby Scientific manufactures laboratory equipment such as shakers, centrifuges, incubators, and water baths under the Stuart, Jenway, and Techne brand names. The company is headquartered in Stone, Staffordshire, UK.
