The Shimadzu 206-24000-92 UVmini-1240 single-beam spectrophotometer has a 190 to 1100nm wavelength range, a 5nm spectral bandwidth, and halogen and deuterium lighting, and is used to perform photometric analysis, spectrum measurements, and quantitation. The single-beam monochromator incorporates an aberration-correcting concave blazed holographic grating. The instrument has one-point calibration curve with one standard sample and a point through the origin; multi-point calibration curve for applications requiring various standards; and first-, second-, and third-order polynomial fitting for the calibration come standard. Photometric measurements include T% and ABS fixed-wavelength measurements and quantitation with K-factor method. Spectrum measurements have ABS, T%, and E measuring modes with a choice of scan speed and scan times. The spectrum display can be set to overlay or sequential. Quantitation can be performed using one, two, or three wavelengths, with one to ten repetitions and mean value. Selectable quantitative methods include K-factor, one point, or multi-point calibration curves. The 5nm bandwidth provides more consistent results for low-concentration samples than does 1nm. The halogen and deuterium lamps can be manually selected or set to automatically change with the wavelength. The light source auto-adjusts for maximum sensitivity. The 6" LCD has CFD lighting and contrast adjustment for viewing in a range of lighting. An RS-232 port provides data export to a computer (sold separately).

A spectrophotometer is a device used to measure and analyze aspects of light absorption in liquids and solids. Readings are displayed in digital or analog format. A spectrophotometer can have a handheld body for field use, or a bench-top body for laboratory applications. It may have one or more adapters to enable it to measure surfaces or liquids. A spectrophotometer is used for testing and measuring in anatomy, chemistry, agriculture, process plant, food and beverage making, homeland security, and educational applications.
