The Oakton Acorn DO 6 meter is a handheld dissolved oxygen (DO) meter to test water quality in wastewater, surface water, ground water, or drinking water, with an LCD screen, a splash-proof six-key keypad, automatic temperature compensation, and automatic compensation for salinity and barometric pressure based on manually entered values. The galvanic probe (included) takes measurements without warm-up time and has a detachable cap with the membrane already attached. The probe’s twin cable has a BNC connector for the DO measurement input and a phono (RCA) connector for the temperature measurement input. The meter has a hold function that freezes the display in any measurement mode. DO meters are commonly used in water-quality testing applications.

Dissolved oxygen (DO) meters measure the amount of dissolved oxygen present in water. The amount of DO helps to determine, for example, drinking water quality, the health of lakes or streams, and aquatic organism sustainability. A probe, also called a sensor or electrode, is inserted into the sample to perform the measurement, and the results appear on the meter display. Applications include sewage and water treatment plants, pollution control, fish farms, and various types of manufacturing.

Oakton Instruments manufactures scientific instruments for research, industrial, and educational uses. The company, founded in 1991 and headquartered in Vernon Hills, IL, specializes in meters, electrodes, and transmitters.
