The Amprobe ACD-45PQ digital clamp meter is true RMS (root mean square) sensing, auto-ranging multimeter for measuring current, voltage, resistance, frequency, kilowatt hour usage, power factor, and real, reactive, and apparent power in industrial electrical testing applications. It has a clamp that measures alternating current (AC) to 600 amp. The meter comes with detachable test leads that measure direct current (DC) voltage and AC voltage to 600 volts (V), resistance to 1,000 ohms, and frequency to 500 hertz (Hz). The clamp has two jaws that can close around an electrical conductor up to 1" (26 mm) in diameter to measure current without touching or interrupting the circuit. The meter measures real power, reactive power, apparent power, and power factor and records the kilowatt hour (kWHr) usage of a power source to provide data on the power efficiency of an electrical system. It can be used for power measurements on single- or three-phase balanced or unbalanced power sources. Automatic detection mode selects voltage, current, or resistance function based on input. The peak hold reading displays the maximum measurement of a current or voltage surge. An audible continuity sensor confirms that the circuit conducts electricity. The hold function keeps the reading on the display, even after the meter is disconnected. The backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) is visible in low light. The unit automatically turns off after 30 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. A finger guard on the body of the meter helps protect fingers from shock. This true RMS (root mean square) sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, such as standard induction motors and incandescent lights, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform, or non-linear loads, such as electronic devices or motors, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal non-sinusoidal waveform. This auto-ranging meter automatically selects the correct operating range for the property being measured. The meter has a 4,000 count resolution for current measurements, a 6,000 count resolution for voltage measurements, and a 10,000 count resolution for power and frequency measurements, meaning it can display up to 3,999 (3-3/4 digits), 5,999 (3-5/6 digits), and 9,999 units (4 digits), respectively, before the operating range needs to be changed. It meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for category III installations up to 600V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply).
