Hanna Instruments Portable Free Chlorine Photometer Kit

The HI 96701C is an auto diagnostic, portable microprocessor meter that measures the free chlorine (Cl2) content in water samples. The CalCheck function validates instrument performance. The meter is splashproof and the lamp and filter units are protected from dust or dirt by a transparent cup, making it suitable for field applications. Messages on the LCD screen aid the user in routine operation and an auto-shut off feature turns the meter off automatically after 10 minutes of non-use in measurement mode or after one hour if left in calibration mode. The device uses an exclusive positive-locking system to help ensure the cuvette is in the same place every time it is placed into the measurement cell. It fits a cuvette with a larger neck, making it easier to add both sample and reagents. The reagent is in powder form and is supplied in packets, with amounts precisely dosed to help ensure accurate repeatability.

Range is 0.00 to 5.00 mg/L + or – 0.03 mg/L + or – 3% of reading at 25 degrees C, with resolutions 0.01 mg/L from 0.00 to 3.50 mg/L; 0.10 mg/L above 3.50 mg/L. The device operates on a 9V battery. Dimensions are 192 x 104 x 69 mm (7.6” x 4.1” x 2.7’’), and weighs 360 g (12.7 oz).

Free chlorine (Cl2) photometers measure the Cl2 content in water samples, which is an indication of whether sufficient chlorine is present to inactivate bacteria and protect the water from contamination during storage. They and are commonly used for drinking water.
