The Fluke Networks TS54 TDR test set, available with various line cord connectors to suit specific applications, incorporates a TDR, tone generator, and telephone test set into one tool for testing VDV cabling as well as POTS quality on live DSL lines without disrupting data services. The TDR (time-domain reflectometer) measures cable length and locates faults on virtually all types of cable including twisted pair, coaxial, and parallel conductors, finding the distance to open and short circuits in up to 3,000' of cabling. It has an adjustable VOP (velocity of propagation) setting to optimize the accuracy of fault location and cable length measurements. The analog tone generator sends a signal through wires for locating and tracing wires with a probe (sold separately), and has five distinct SmartTone cadences for isolating individual wire pairs. The telephone test set is designed for outside plant use to detect dial tone and polarity, place and receive calls, indicate line voltage and current, and verify caller ID and call waiting caller ID services; has a two-way, adjustable-volume speakerphone for hands-free conversation during testing; monitors lines without disrupting service; locks out off-hook testing when high-speed data is detected; and stores up to nine 23-digit telephone numbers which can be speed-dialed via the keypad. It provides tone or pulse operation. The test set has two basic modes of operation: talk mode for off-hook operations including verifying dialing and receiving calls, and monitor mode for on-hook operations including checking for an idle line, listening for line noise, measuring DC voltage on the line, and capturing DTMF (dual-tone multi-frequency) tones to check for proper signaling. In monitor mode, the test set provides a high impedance coupling to monitor lines without disrupting service. When switching to talk mode, the data lockout feature tests the line for high-speed data signals and remains on hook and beeps if such signals are detected. The lockout can be overridden to pull dia...

"The Cable Prowler provides full cable testing on any category network, coax, or telephone cable. It will display wire map, numbered ID remotes, and any faults, including shorts, opens, miswires, split pairs, and reverses. The full-featured Cable Prowler measures cable length (using TDR technology) and generates tone levels for signal tracing and cable identification on all pairs, a selected pair, or a selected pin. All of this is displayed in a full color graphical display for easy viewing in any environment. Cable Prowler also has the ability to name each cable and save all test results. Cable results can be exported to a computer via micro USB cable for record keeping and printing (CSV or PDF). The Cable Prowler enables quick identification of a network drops link capability and current link status. Cable Prowler also detects the presence of PoE on the network drop and what class of PoE per IEEE 802.3 af/at with load test for voltage drop. These network tests can also be saved for record keeping and printing (CSV or PDF)."

Model CA7028 includes meter, soft carrying case, remote ID (#1), two patch cords, four x 1.5V AA batteries and user manual. The Wire Mapper Pro model CA7028 is a hand-held structured cable mapping and troubleshooting tester designed for use on UTP, STP, FTP and SSTP cabling equipped with RJ-45 connectors and wired to either TIA 568A/B (ISO 11801 and EN 50137), USOC or ISDN specifications. It detects open circuit pairs, shorts, crossed wires, crossed pairs, reversed pairs, split pairs and shield faults. In the event of opens and shorts, the Model CA7028 uses TDR technology to indicate if the fault is at the near end or the remote end of the cable, or if it is somewhere in between. It will then indicate the distance to the fault. The Model CA7028 has the ability to measure and indicate the length of the cable under test, using a Vp (Velocity of Propagation) set by the user, from a built-in library or manually. It will measure and report the length of all four pairs of wires in the cable under test. It also generates an audible tone that is transmitted into all four pairs on the cable under test. This can be used for cable tracing and identification in conjunction with a tone receiver. The Model CA7028 also has the ability to identify telephone and data lines. If the main unit is plugged into an operational RJ-45 socket, it will give a continuous warning tone and display if a telephone voltage is present on any of the pins. If the Service Detect key is pressed, it will check and display telephone, 10BaseT, 100Mbit plus and token ring active service. Identify LAN wiring faults. Find distances (feet or meters) to opens and shorts. Test patch cords. Test for active service. Trace cable locations. Measure cable length. Map network layout. Range: 500' (150m). Accuracy: +/-5 percent. Cable types: UTP, STP, FTP and SSTP. Safety Ratings: EN 61010-1, EN 61326-1, EN 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-6. CE Mark. Index of Protection: IP54.

Model CA7024 includes meter, soft carrying case, BNC pigtail cable with alligator clips, four x 1.5V AA batteries and user manual. The Fault Mapper model CA7024 is a hand-held, alphanumeric, TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer) cable length meter and fault locator, designed to measure the length of electrical and communication cables. It can also indicate the distance to a fault in the cable (open or short), given access to only one end of a two or more conductor cable. By incorporating fast-edge step TDR technology, the model CA7024 measures cable length and indicates the distance to open or short circuit faults, to a range of 6000' or 2000m (user selectable), on virtually any type of cable. The model CA7024 indicates the cable length or fault distance and description, alphanumerically on a 128 x 64 graphical LCD. An internal library of standard cable types enables accurate measurement without the necessity of entering Velocity of Propagation (Vp) information, and the model CA7024 automatically compensates for different cable impedances. The model CA7024 incorporates an oscillating tone generator that is detectable with a standard tone receiver for use in tracing cables and identification of cable location. The Model CA7024 also displays a "Voltage Detected" warning and sounds an alarm when connected to a cable energized by more than 10V, which prohibits testing. Determine length of cables on reels, coils or in boxes. Determine cable runs in wall, conduit and other surfaces. Detect opens and shorts in cables and the length to them. Trace cables to identify runs and location. Range at Vp equal to 70 percent: 6000' or 2000m (user selectable). Resolution: 0.1 to 100', then 1' (0.1 up to 100m, then 1m). Accuracy: +/-2 percent of reading. Minimum cable length: 12'. Vp (velocity of propagation): adjustable from 20 to 99 percent. Output pulse: 5V (peak to peak) into open circuit; nanosecond rise Step Function. Safety ratings: EN 61010-1, EN 60950, EN 61326-1. CE Mark.
