The Oakton 35661-70 electrical conductivity (EC) and total dissolved solids (TDS) kit is a calibration kit that comes with pouches, rinse water, sample jar, and a foam-lined, plastic carrying case. A calibration kit contains supplies to assist in the calibration process in aquaculture, aquariums, fish ponds, food processing, swimming pools, and in environmental treatment. This kit is suitable for field use and for use with plants. This deluxe calibration kit contains two each of calibration pouches with 20 mL of solution; 447 μS, 1413 μS, 2764 μS, 15,000 μS and rinse water. The single-use pouches are individually sealed for ease of application. The materials are NIST-traceable for reliability. The kit comes with a sample jar for placement of substance. The kit comes in a foam-lined hard plastic carrying case with impressed areas for protection of supplies. The 35661-70 solutions have accuracy of + or - 1% at 25 degrees C. The kit is used with Oakton standard and dual-range TDS testers, and EC testers. EC measures in microsiemens (μS), and TDS measures in parts per million (ppm). Conductivity is the ability of a solution or material to conduct an electrical current. TDS, such as salts and minerals, contribute to the conductivity of a solution. A TDS meter measures conductivity of a substance and converts it to a TDS reading. EC and TDS readings are commonly used by researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists in aquaculture, agriculture, hydroponics, and water-testing and for scientific applications. Oakton Instruments manufactures an array of scientific instruments for research, industrial, and educational uses. Since 1991, Oakton has distributed a wide variety of instruments such as meters, electrodes, and transmitters. Oakton is based in Vernon Hills, IL, and has facilities in Europe, Asia, and China.
