BYK-Gardner Dip Viscosity Cups (Zahn Type) may be used anywhere - in shops, factories and laboratories - for quickly checking and adjusting the viscosity of many different types of liquids. Each cup has a 12-inch loop handle to allow the cup to be dipped by hand into a liquid container. At the center of this handle is a finger-ring for holding the cup in a vertical position during use. Results should be reported in Zahn-Seconds at a specified temperature for a particular cup. To convert Zahn-Seconds to centistokes, refer to ASTM D 4212.

Set-up is simple. Install the HI 981504 near the sample to be tested, plug the indicator in and immerse the probes. pH, TDS and temperature measurements will be simultaneously displayed on three backlit LCDs. Users can easily select the temperature unit ( degree C or degree F) on the back panel. The HI 1286 gel-filled pH electrode is provided with a waterproof sleeve to protect the BNC connector. The unique design of the electrode provides longer life in aggressive solutions. The HI 7634 TDS probe is easy to clean and requires little maintenance. Measurements are accurate and the meter can be calibrated at one or two points for pH and at a single point for TDS. Temperature is factory calibrated. Range: pH: 0.0 to 14.0; TDS: 0 to 1990 ppm; temperature: -10.0 to 60.0 degree C or -14.0 to 140.0 degree F. Resolution: pH: 0.1; TDS: 10 ppm; temperature: 0.1 degree C or 0.1 degree F. Accuracy: pH: +/-0.2; TDS: +/-2 percent F.S.; temperature: +/-0.3 degree C or +/-0.5 degree F. pH calibration: manual two points through trimmers. TDS calibration: manual one point through trimmer. TDS factor: 0.7. Probes: pH: HI 1286 PEI body pH electrode with 2 m (6.6') cable (included); TDS: HI 7634 TDS probe (fixed); temperature: stainless steel with 2 m cable (fixed). Temperature compensation: automatic, 5 to 50 degree C (41 to 122 degree F), for TDS readings only. Power supply: 12 VDC adapter (included). Environment: 0 to 50 degree C (32 to 122 degree F); 95 percent RH. Measures 4-19/64" length by 1-25/64" width by 6-19/64" height.

The Cannon BS/IP/MSL-2 miniature suspended-level viscometer has a 2 to 10 centistokes (cSt) viscosity measuring range and is suitable for the measurement of transparent Newtonian fluids such as fuels and lubricants. It uses a viscometer constant of 0.001 centistokes per second (cSt/s) for calculating kinematic viscosity of sample sizes as small as 4mL. The BS/IP/MSL-series size 2 viscometer uses a 305mm depth water bath (not included) for temperature-control testing and a vacuum (not included) to draw a sample up for timed testing between two sets of printed marks. It includes an ASTM International certificate of calibration. This calibrated miniature suspended-level viscometer meets the ASTM International D446 standard for suspended-level viscometers and the D445 standard for testing viscosity. A viscometer, also called a viscosimeter, is an instrument used to measure the friction caused by the relative motion of a Newtonian fluid and a known surface, and is usually expressed in units of poise (P), centipoise (cP), pascal seconds (Pa s), and millipascal seconds (mPa s). Viscometers have several forms, including but not limited to falling ball, rotational, vibrating, capillary, funnel, and bubble. A falling ball viscometer measures the time it takes for a ball of known diameter and density to fall through fluid in a cylinder of known diameter. A rotational viscometer measures the force required to stir a fluid. A vibrating viscometer measures the power input necessary to keep the oscillator vibrating at constant amplitude while immersed in a fluid. A capillary viscometer has a narrow-bore vertical section with two printed marks that measure time required for a known volume of fluid to fall a known distance. A funnel viscometer, such as a Ford, Zahn, or Shell cup, measures the time it takes a known volume of fluid to flow from the base of a cone through a short tube. A bubble viscometer measures the time required for an air bubble to rise through a fluid. Viscosity measurements are used in laboratories, research ...

These new Ford viscosity cups are extremely easy to use. Simply pour your sample into the cup and measure the time it takes for the liquid to flow through the orifice until the first break in the liquid stream. Use the included table to convert the elapsed time to centistokes (cSt). The cups are made from solid aluminum; the orifice is made from brass. All the cups are calibrated to NIST-traceable oils. An accessory kit, a stand, and a stand with water bath ports are sold separately. Use accessory stand with bath ports to measure viscosity at various or critcal temperatures ±2% production tolerance
