The Starrett S831EZ set of four small hole gauges measures 0.125 to 0.5"/3.2 to 12.7mm holes, slots, grooves, and recesses in woodworking, metalworking, machining, layout, and pattern-making applications. The four gauges measure from 0.125 to 0.2", 0.2 to 0.3", 0.3 to 0.4", and 0.4 to 0.5". Each gauge has a half-ball measuring surface with flat base that is hardened and ground for two-point contact in shallow slots and recesses. A safety stop prevents each gauge from adjustment beyond its range. A lock at the end of the handle secures the gauge width for measurement with a micrometer (sold separately). The gauge set comes in a protective case for storage. The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company, founded in 1880, is headquartered in Athol, MA. What's in the Box?(4) piece small hole gauge setProtective case

If you experience any problem contact Fowler directly for warranty claims. Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.

The Mitutoyo 511-213 Dial Bore Gauge for Small Holes has a measurement range of 0.24 to 4" and is accurate to + or - 0.0002". It is precise to 0.0005". This direct-measuring gauge uses a two-point contact system to detect geometry problems such as ovality and taper, and carbide-tipped contact points offer extended wear and improved abrasion resistance. A rugged cover protects the dial indicator.Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. They can measure the interior diameter of a hole at any depth, while internal micrometers can only measure to the depth of their teeth. Bore gauges are typically calibrated with a setting ring and come in two types: simple and direct-measuring. Simple bore gauges are used with a caliper to transfer the hole measurement, while the more complex gauges take the measurement directly, and display it through a vernier, dial, or digital display. Bore gauges have a two- or three-point contact, indicating how many points on the gauge head touch the inside of the bore. Two-point contacts are better at measuring ovality, while three-point contacts are used to measure lobing or triangular form error. Pistol-grip bore gauges are used for fast, single-handed operation with repeatable results from one operator to another. Bore gauges can also be used in special applications, such as measuring threads, spline pitch diameters, and deep bores.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems.
