The Brown & Sharpe 599-615-1 Depth Gauge has an adjustable measuring base and a rule scale with graduations of 1/32" and 1/64", a measurement range of 0 to 5", and an accuracy of + or – 0.001" for direct measurement of holes and recesses. The adjustable measuring base can be angled and positioned along the rule and locked into place via the knurled nut. The base is made of hardened steel, measures 2-1/2" long and 1/8" thick at its base, and has 30-, 45-, and 60-degree angle markings to serve as guide for estimating angles. The rule is made of tempered steel and is 6" long overall. The depth gauge comes with a depth measuring rod. Depth gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display. Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company, founded in 1833, is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI. What's in the Box?Brown & Sharpe 599-615-1 Depth GaugeDepth measuring rod
