The Mitutoyo 148 series micrometer head has a small size and a vernier scale in metric units for taking precise measurements to 13mm. It is available with a plain stem for mounting in a fixture with a split-body clamp or setscrew, or a clamp-nut stem for quick mounting. The vernier scale is graduated to 0.01mm, and has a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The measuring face is lapped to help provide accuracy.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. Micrometer heads are for mounting in fixtures, where they are typically used for measurement, or as stops or feeds.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The company was founded in Tokyo in 1934 and formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, IL.

The Standard Gage 01824004 dial test indicator has a 0.03" measuring range, 0.0005" graduations, a black face, carbide tip, and inch measurements, and is designed to measure surface variations in narrow or recessed areas. Jeweled bearings provide high sensitivity and accuracy, and reversible measuring direction. This dial test indicator has a narrow body for hard-to-reach areas, and 1.26" diameter face. It comes with a storage case and inspection report.Dial readings with three digits, 0-10-0 for example, signify that the indicator has a balanced dial. Dial readings with two digits, 0-100 for example, indicate the dial has a continuous dial. Balanced dials are used for reading the difference from a specific surface reference point. Continuous dials are used for direct readings and usually have a larger measurement range than balanced dials.Test indicator gauges, also called gages, are precision instruments that measure short linear distances. They are commonly used for detecting deviations from tolerance limits, such as small variations in flatness or height of an inspected workpiece, and permit measurement in narrow grooves or small bores. A test indicator gauge consists of a ball-tipped contact point on a levered arm, also called a measuring insert, which pivots from a hinge point. The reading indicates the degree of angular displacement of the arm. Test indicator gauges are commonly used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. Standard test indicators measure the displacement of the arm perpendicular to the axis of the indicator. Dial and electronic indicators are very similar to test indicators, except that the axis of measurement is parallel to the axis of the indicator. Test indicators can be analog, with a mechanical dial, or electronic, with a digital display. Some electronic models transfer the data electronically to a computer for recording and potential manipulation.Standard Gage manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools.
