The Mitutoyo 209 series Digimatic internal tube thickness caliper gauge has a combination analog/digital LCD display and large measuring depth for taking inside dimension (ID) measurements of hole diameters, thickness of grooves or tubes, and other hard-to-reach internal dimensions. Depending on the model, these units may come with either ball contact points suitable for measuring internal wall thickness of tubes, or disc contact points suitable for measuring flat surfaces. The calipers have an Ingress Protection 67 (IP67) rating, which ensures that components are resistant to debris and to submersion in liquid under standard conditions for up to 30 minutes. At minimum, functions include zero-set, preset, automatic power off, inch/metric, and conversion data hold. An output port transmits results to a Mitutoyo miniprocessor or computer for statistical process control (SPC) through an interface cable (sold separately). The unit comes with, and is powered by, a single AA battery that lasts approximately 350 hours with continuous normal use. Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inside, outside, depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, and machining. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the m...

The Brown & Sharpe TESA IMICRO Capa LCD inside micrometer has three-point contacts for self-centering measurement of the inside dimension (ID) of bores, and a digital single-value LCD readout that displays in inch and metric units with resolution to 0.00005†(0.001mm). An electrostatic capacitance linear encoder helps ensure repeatable, precise measurement, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) data output to transmit results to a computer or external device through an interface cable (sold separately). The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurements at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. An automatic off function helps preserve battery life when the unit is not in use. The electronics housing has an Ingress Protection 54 (IP54) rating, which means that components are resistant to debris and to splashing water from any direction up to a volume of 10 liters per minute. The measuring faces are made of hardened steel and may be uncoated, TiN-coated, or tungsten carbide-tipped for wear resistance, depending on the model. The micrometer includes, and is powered by, a single CR2032 lithium cell battery, and comes with a plastic case for storage.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company, fo...

The Fowler 53-422-063 Precision Shaft Level is a 200 mm (7-7/8") long spirit level that has one level and one cross-test vial for determining horizontal plane simultaneously in two directions with a sensitivity of 0.1mm/m (0.001"/10") or 20 seconds. The vials are made of glass to resist scratching and provide clear readings, and the main vial can be viewed from the side and the top. A V-shaped groove in the base provides reliable seating when leveling round items such as pipes, conduit, and shafts. The level has a cast iron frame for durability. It measures 200 x 30 x 35 mm/7-7â„8 x 1-3â„16 x 1-3â„8 inches (L x H x D, where L is length, the horizontal distance from left to right; H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back). It includes a wooden case for storage. Levels are used in the building trades, engineering, surveying, and metalworking, among other applications. Levels are instruments that are used to determine the true horizontal or vertical plane of a surface. The most common type of level is the spirit level, or bubble level. Spirit levels have a liquid-filled, bowed tube (also called a vial) with a bubble that moves when slight adjustments are made to the level. When the bubble settles between marked points on the vial, it indicates that a surface is horizontally or vertically straight. Levels can have one or more vials to determine the horizontal plane, the vertical plane, or various points between, such as a 45-degree angle, simultaneously. Some levels include a laser line indicator that projects a horizontal or vertical beam on a surface. Bullseye levels, or surface levels, are circular, flat-bottomed spirit levels that determine whether a surface plane is level. Machinists’ levels are made of metal and have surfaces designed specifically for rugged use in a machine shop or tool room. Levels can range from highly-complex and accurate machines, such as those used in the surveying and construction ind...

These are the most popular inside micrometers because of their lightness, ease of use, and range. They are very useful for measuring inside diameters of cylinders and rings, measuring parallel surfaces, etc. The desired range is obtained by assembling rods and spacing collars to the micrometer head. Measuring rods are provided with a shoulder that is set accurately in the micrometer head and locked in position. When assembling rods to the A and B heads, the reading line on the micrometer head should be lined up with the marking on each rod (except for the 2-3"). Rod diameters are approximately 11/32". Each rod has individual length adjustment for the anvil by means of special wrenches furnished. Movement of screw: 1", Number of measuring rods: 4, Number of spacing collars: One 1" Two 2".
