The Brown & Sharpe 599-1-50 Classicmaster Micrometer is an outside micrometer with 0 to 1" measuring range, a Vernier scale that has 0.0001" graduations to provide precise readings, and a flat anvil/spindle pair for general purpose measuring. The micrometer has carbide measuring faces that provide wear resistance and long life. Its friction thimble provides smooth and quiet operation, and is suitable for one-handed operation. It is made of steel and plastic, and comes with a hex key, a spanner wrench, and a storage case. Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The Brown & Sharpe 599-7720 Omnibase Permanent Magnetic Base indicator holder, compatible with dial and dial test indicators, grips three ways, and has an always-on magnetic field. 70 steel segments attach and adhere securely to a variety of shapes and contours. The cam lock provides easy, accurate fine adjustment of the steel segments. The 1.75 x 2.25 x 3 inch (H x W x D) base grips horizontally, vertically, and upside-down, with a 9.25†long tool post that is 0.472†in diameter. The offset rod is 0.393†in diameter and has a fine adjustment to simplify setup. The swivel clamp hole for rods is 0.25†diameter, with a 0.3125†diameter post hole. With the dovetail attachment, the Omnibase accommodates AGD and BesTest indicators. The dovetail attachment has a shank extension of 1/2†and is 0.220†in diameter. Magnetic bases are magnetic fixtures commonly used in metalworking to hold dial indicators, and are also used in other fields, such as optics. Magnetic bases can assist the user with setting up a workpiece in a milling machine, surface grinder, or other machine tool. The vertical post and rod in a magnetic base connect using swiveling connectors, or snugs. This allows free motion of the arm so that the dial indicator can be moved into position on the workpiece. Many magnetic bases have a V-step, which is a V-shaped notch in the base for holding the base to arbors, shafts, and other cylindrical items. The magnetic base has a circular hole through the center. A round permanent magnet is inserted into this hole, and a handle or button is attached to allow the user to rotate the magnet. Rotating the magnet turns the base on and off as this causes the position of the magnetic field to rotate as well. In the on position, the iron is acting as an extension of the magnet, while in the off position, the magnet is acting as a keeper, preventing the magnetic field from extending through the base. The Mitutoyo Series 571 ABSOLUTE Digimatic LCD Depth Gauge, Caliper Type, Inch/Metric, depending on the model, have a measurement range of 0 up to 8" (0 to 1000mm), and a resolution (or smallest graduation interval) of 0.0005" (0.01mm), with up to + or - 0.001" of accuracy. The LCD screen displays in both inches and metric, and can keep track of the origin point for the life of the battery (about 3 years under normal use). The bases are either 100mm or 250mm long, and the measuring faces of the units are hardened, ground, and lapped for durability and accuracy. The gauge conforms to European Conformity (CE) marking and certain models in this series conform to the Ingress Protection 67 (IP67) standard. The display has origin-set, zero, and data output functions for convenience. The units support SPC output. The gauges in this series include an SR44 battery. Optional SPC cables, wider bases (for up to 450mm range models), and an LCD with data hold are sold separately. Depth gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems. The company, founded in Tokyo in 1934, formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963 with headquarters in Aurora, IL.

The dial indicators are Mitutoyo’s most popular, and have the widest application. Standard 0.01mm graduation dial gauges having an outer frame with an outside diameter of 57mm. All types come with limit pins and an outer frame clamp as standard. The outer clamp and lifting lever (optional) can be attached to either the right or left side. These parts can be easily installed and removed without tools. Secured adhesion between the outer frame and crystal as well as the use of an O-ring ensure countermeasures against water and oil permeation via the front face.

The Mitutoyo 513 series dial test indicator has a white face, a 0.375" stem diameter, and inch measurements. The indicator has a reversible measuring direction and an adjustable contact point, and is used to measure surface variations in narrow or recessed areas. The vertical face is perpendicular to the axis of the indicator and three dovetail mounts, and can be mounted either horizontally or vertically from the front, top, or back of the indicator. It has a unified outer frame that prevents oil and water from permeating the front face, a hard frame body that provides rigidity and durability, and a clear, flat, and scratch-resistant crystal face. This dial indicator meets Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) B7533-1990. The full set includes a dial indicator, three contact points (0.039", 0.079", and 0.118" diameter), a 4mm diameter stem, two stems (0.157" and 3/8" diameter), a knurled clamp ring, a swivel clamp, a 4 inch holding bar, and a plastic storage box.Dial readings with three digits, such as 0-10-0, signify that the indicator has a balanced dial. Dial readings with two digits, such as 0-100, indicate that the dial has a continuous dial. Balanced dials are used to read the difference from a specific surface reference point. Continuous dials are used for direct readings and usually have a larger measurement range than balanced dials. Optional features include jeweled bearings for high sensitivity and accuracy, and a white face.Dial indicators are also called dial gauges, dial calipers, and probe indicators. These precision measuring tools are used to accurately measure small linear distances and object sizes. The dial magnifies the measurement so that it can more easily be read by the human eye. Frequently used in manufacturing, laboratories, and other industrial or mechanical fields, dial indicators are used anywhere a small measurement must be found and recorded or transferred, such as checking the variation in tolerance of a workpiece. Standard dial indicators measure the displacement along the axis of t...
