The Mitutoyo 293 series Coolant Proof LCD micrometer has a digital single-value LCD readout that displays in metric units with resolution to 0.001mm for outside diameter (OD) measurement, and a ratchet-stop mechanism that helps provide precise, repeatable measurement. The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurements at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. On some models, an output jack transmits Statistical Process Control (SPC) data results to a computer or external device through an interface cable (sold separately). The electronics housing has an Ingress Protection 65 (IP65) rating, which means that components are resistant to penetration by dust and debris, and resistant to penetration by liquids and coolant up to the force of a low-pressure (to 30 kilonewtons/meter-squared) water jet.. The spindle and anvil have flat measuring faces and are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. A spindle lock helps provide secure locking of the measurement position. The micrometer includes, and is powered by, a single SR44 silver oxide battery, and comes with a fitted case for storage.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The Mitutoyo 125 series screw thread micrometer has a 60-degree V-anvil and conical spindle for measuring pitch diameters of metric or unified screw threads. It also has a vernier scale in metric units for taking precise outside diameter (OD) measurements, and a ratchet-stop mechanism to help provide uniform pressure for precise, repeatable measurement during adjustment.sThe micrometer’s frame has a Hammertone, baked enamel finish for protection and durability. The vernier scale on the thimble and sleeve is graduated to 0.01mm, and a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The micrometer’s ratchet-stop mechanism helps provide uniform pressure during adjustment for precise, repeatable measurement. A spindle lock helps provide secure locking of the measurement position, while the anvil holder has a fine screw adjustment and locking device. The micrometer comes with a plastic case for storage.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. Advanced Systems & Designs SmartCable with Excel keystroke output connects standard Mitytoyo gages (indicators, micrometers, calipers, etc) and other gages that mimic the Mitutoyo Digimatic signal, to a computer. Gages from Chicago Dial, Mahr Federal, Ono Sokki and others have digital outputs compatible with the Digimatic signal. The output of this SmartCable is a standard USB 2.0 keyboard signal. Connecting the SmartCable Keyboard to a computer will allow the it to be identified as a keyboard device that can send data to any Microsoft Windows application. The computer USB connection provides 5vDC power to the SmartCable Keyboard, as well as to pin 9 on the Digimatic connection. Some gages may also obtain power from the SmartCable Keyboard. If your gage cannot receive power from the Digimatic connection, it must have a power supply (batteries) of its own. The SmartCable Keyboard will make the gage readings appear as if they were typed in using a standard keyboard. No Software Wedge Required! Readings can be triggered by any of the following: • Pressing the push button on the SmartCable Keyboard • Depressing a connected footswitch (not included) • Pressing the send button on the gage (if it has one). The SmartCable Keyboard can be easily configured to output data in different modes such as, CR, TAB, up, down, left, right, continuous or continuous readings with timer delay by adjusting the rotary switch on the SmartCable Keyboard. A detailed operation manual is included with each SmartCable Keyboard. Can ship only within the United States.
