The Starrett 690M-3Z Hole Gauge Dial Bore Gauge has a measurement range of 3.30 to 5.85 mm and gradient spacing of 0.02 mm. The gauge can be pressed down on a flat surface and checked so the size reads the same as the set number stamped on the back of the indicator. The balanced design makes for easy one-handed operation and all ground surfaces are made of hardened tool steel for durability.Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. They can measure the interior diameter of a hole at any depth, while internal micrometers can only measure to the depth of their teeth. Bore gauges are typically calibrated with a setting ring and come in two types: simple and direct-measuring. Simple bore gauges are used with a caliper to transfer the hole measurement, while the more complex gauges take the measurement directly, and display it through a vernier, dial, or digital display. Bore gauges have a two- or three-point contact, indicating how many points on the gauge head touch the inside of the bore. Two-point contacts are better at measuring ovality, while three-point contacts are used to measure lobing or triangular form error. Pistol-grip bore gauges are used for fast, single-handed operation with repeatable results from one operator to another. Bore gauges can also be used in special applications, such as measuring threads, spline pitch diameters, and deep bores. The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company, founded in 1880, is headquartered in Athol, MA.

The Mitutoyo 368 series Holtest vernier inside micrometer has three-point contacts for self-centering measurement of the inside dimension (ID) of bores, and a vernier scale in inch units for taking precise ID measurements. It also has a ratchet-stop mechanism that helps provide uniform pressure for precise, repeatable measurements. The micrometer is made of high-grade tool steel for durability and has a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The vernier scale is graduated to 0.0001†or 0.0002†depending on the model. The measuring faces are carbide-tipped or TiN-coated for wear resistance depending on the model. The micrometer comes with a fitted case for storage.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The Brown & Sharpe Micromaster Alesometer  LCD inside micrometer has three-point contacts for self-centering measurement of the inside dimension (ID) of through holes, blind bores, or short centering shoulders, and a digital single-value LCD readout that displays in inch and metric units with resolution to 0.00005†(0.001mm). It also has Statistical Process Control (SPC) data output to transmit results to a computer or external device through an interface cable (sold separately). The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurements at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. An automatic off function helps preserve battery life when the unit is not in use. The electronics housing has an Ingress Protection 54 (IP54) rating, which means that components are resistant to debris and to splashing water from any direction up to a volume of 10 liters per minute. The measuring faces are made of hardened steel and may be uncoated, or tungsten carbide-tipped for wear resistance, depending on the model. The Starrett 124DZ solid-rod inside micrometer set includes two micrometer heads, each graduated to 0.001â€, a set of ten interchangeable and adjustable measuring rods, and four spacing collars that can be used in combination to span from 2 to 32â€. These micrometers are designed for measuring the inside diameters of large cylinders, rings, and parallel surfaces. The micrometer set comes with wrenches for making needed adjustments and a protective wood case for storage. The micrometer’s measuring rods are marked with their length range, and have adjustable anvils that are hardened and ground for accuracy. The rods are made of solid steel for lightness and rigidity, are insulated to prevent heat expansion when held in the hand, and have a rust-resistant, satin chrome finish. Rods adjustable to 8†in length are 0.25†(6mm) in diameter with a compatible 0.5†spacing collar, while rods adjustable from 8†and greater are 11/32†(8.5 mm) in diameter with compatible 1†and 2†spacing collars. Rods adjustable to 8†attach to the micrometer head with a screw movement of 0.5†for each full turn, while rods adjustable from 8†and greater attach to the micrometer head with a screw movement of 1†for each full turn. All rods attach to the micrometer heads by a locking shoulder that grips the rod securely into place. Both micrometer heads have a knurled friction thimble that supports adjustment with uniform pressure, quick-reading graduations to 0.001â€, and a rust-resistant, glare-free, satin chrome finish.
