The Starrett 824 series fixed range vernier inside micrometer has an adjustable sleeve and adjustable contacts on the thimble end help provide accurate measurements, and a vernier scale in inch units for making precise measurements. A knurled thimble helps provide secure grip, and the handles are heat-insulated to help reduce temperature-related expansion or contraction. The vernier scale is graduated to 0.001†and a knurled ring-type lock nut holds measurements in place. The micrometer has a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company was founded in 1880 and is headquartered in Athol, MA.

The Mitutoyo 511-432 Dial Bore Gauge for Blind Holes has a measurement range of 1.4 to 2.4" and is accurate to + or - 0.0002". It is precise to 0.0005" and can measure internal diameters at positions close to the bottom of blind holes. This direct-measuring gauge uses a two-point contact system to detect geometry problems such as ovality and taper, and carbide-tipped contact points provide extended wear and improved abrasion resistance. A rugged cover protects the dial indicator.Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. They can measure the interior diameter of a hole at any depth, while internal micrometers can only measure to the depth of their teeth. Bore gauges are typically calibrated with a setting ring and come in two types: simple and direct-measuring. Simple bore gauges are used with a caliper to transfer the hole measurement, while the more complex gauges take the measurement directly, and display it through a vernier, dial, or digital display. Bore gauges have a two- or three-point contact, indicating how many points on the gauge head touch the inside of the bore. Two-point contacts are better at measuring ovality, while three-point contacts are used to measure lobing or triangular form error. Pistol-grip bore gauges are used for fast, single-handed operation with repeatable results from one operator to another. Bore gauges can also be used in special applications, such as measuring threads, spline pitch diameters, and deep bores.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems. The company, founded in Tokyo in 1934, formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963 with headquarters in Aurora, IL.

After inserting work between the measuring contacts, releasing the lever will cause the spindle to contact the work, giving an accurate size reading because measuring pressure is independent of the user. Indicators have jewel bearings and continuous dials. The contact edges are radiused to prevent the work from being marred or deflected. The flat contact area measures 6.3mm in diameter and is 0.125mm thick.

The Fowler Z-Height E chrome-plated electronic height gauge is precise to 0.0005" (0.01mm), and has a high-contrast LCD readout, a large, hand-operated feed wheel, a carbide-tipped scriber, and a positive lock. A hand-operated feed wheel raises and lowers the gauge on the beam with smooth, even travel, and is selectable for coarse or fine feed. The gauge has a hold function to freeze recordings on the 11mm display, as well as a zero setting function. A datum position recall function programs more than one zero point. Relative and absolute measuring functions allow measurements of the true size or comparison measurements of parts to a master. An incremental measuring function allows each reading to be taken from the previous reading. The measuring speed is 120" per second. The gauge has RS-232 output for data transfer. The included scriber, used to mark position on the workpiece, is carbide-tipped for hardness and durability. The gauge is powered by one CR 2032, 3V lithium battery (sold separately) that provides up to one year of normal use. The display flashes to indicate when battery replacement is needed. The gauge has a working environment temperature of 32 to 104 degrees F (0 to 40 degrees C) with a surrounding relative humidity of 80 percent. Storage and transport temperature is -4 to 158 degrees F (-20 to 70 degrees C). The satin chrome finish on the scales resists rust and is glare-free. The base is hardened, ground, and lapped for maximum flatness. The gauge comes with a molded case.Height gauges, sometimes referred to as gauges, are precision measuring instruments that travel on a vertical column (also called the beam) to measure and/or mark the vertical distance from the base of an object in fine units. The vertical position of the gauge and its attached pointer are changed by turning a calibrated screw, or one or more feed wheels. Recorded rotations are read from a scale, a dial, counters, and/or an electronic display. A screw clamp holds the pointer to the gauge. The pointer is typically sharpened to ...

These gauges directly measure the diameter of chamfered holes. No setting master is necessary. When the three-blade plunger is pressed against a flat surface, the gauge should read the set number stamped on the back of the indicator. In case of wear, the gauge may be adjusted to read the proper number.
