The Fowler 52-059-016 stainless steel inch/metric vernier caliper has a 6"/150mm measuring range, a 0.001"/0.02mm graduation, and four-way jaws for measuring the inside diameter (ID) and outside diameter (OD) of holes, grooves, and tube thicknesses, and depth and step measurements of bores and grooves. An extra-long vernier ensures accuracy. A depth rod can be read directly from the vernier scale. Sharp black graduations on a satin-finished bar ease reading, and a thumb lock holds the measurement in place for accurate reading. Raised sliding surfaces prevent wear of graduations for accuracy and long life. Ground and lapped measuring faces ensure accuracy and wear resistance. Hardened stainless steel construction provides durability and wear resistance. The caliper includes a fitted case. Vernier calipers are measuring instruments commonly used for inspection in manufacturing to provide the precise measurements of an object. A pair of jaws attached to a long beam with a marked scale is used to take inside, outside, and step measurements. An additional depth probe slides along the beam to take depth measurements. One jaw is fixed to the end of the scale, while the other jaw slides along it with gearless precision to take measurements. The main scale is engraved directly on the beam while the vernier scale is engraved on the slider mechanism. The base measurement is taken from the long beam, which provides the initial whole measurement in inches, centimeters, or millimeters. To obtain the total measurement, the base reading is added to the vernier scale reading, which provides fractional measurements in inches or millimeters. A locking mechanism provides the ability to take differential measurements for determining the difference in measurements between two objects. Compared to digital and dial calipers, vernier calipers are more durable because they do not have internal moving parts, and are less prone to inaccuracy caused by shock, debris, and other contaminants, but they can be more difficult to read than digital...

The Fowler 52-520-485 dial indicator has an American Gage Design (AGD) Group 2, 2-1/4" dial face with a continuous dial, a 0-1" measuring range, 0.001" graduations, a revolution counter, and tolerance markers, and is designed to measure surface variations in fractions of an inch. The 0-100 continuous dial with revolution counter has a total measuring range of 0-1" with each revolution equal to 0.1". An adjustable bezel and dial sets the zero reading at any location. Tolerance markers allow operators to observe limits at a glance. The carbide ball contact point provides durability and long life. The magnetic back can be used to mount the indicator on most metal surfaces, and a protective coating provides durability and long life. This product has a 1 year warranty offered by Fowler High Precision. If you experience any problem contact Fowler directly for warranty claims. Dial readings with three digits, 0-10-0 for example, signify that the indicator has a balanced dial. Dial readings with two digits, 0-100 for example, indicate the dial has a continuous dial. Balanced dials are used for reading the difference from a specific surface reference point. Continuous dials are used for direct readings and usually have a larger measurement range than balanced dials. These precision instruments measure small linear distances and object sizes. The dial magnifies the measurement so that it can be easily read by the human eye. Frequently used in manufacturing, laboratories, and other industrial or mechanical fields, dial indicators are used anywhere a small measurement must be found and recorded or tra...

The Fowler 52-660-015 optical loupe magnifier combines three achromatic lenses to provide high-resolution 15X color-corrected magnification, and is used to enhance the size and resolution of an object or image for a variety of applications including jewelry-making, watch-making, electronic inspection, and various hobbies. The flat transparent acrylic base allows the loupe to be placed directly on the specimen without blocking ambient light, making this loupe a good choice for viewing art work, slides, prints, circuit boards, stamps, coins, and lithography.Diopter (D) is a technical term for the measurement of the light curvature and thickness of a lens. A dioptric number and a magnification number are not the same thing. Diopter strength represents a specific magnification power (X). For example, a 5-diopter provides 2.5X magnification (at a distance of 8"). The higher the diopter, the more magnification a lens can provide. As magnification increases, distance to the object (focal length), and field of view (diameter, or narrowness of view) decrease. Magnifiers and prescription eyeglasses have a diopter value, such as 1.5 or 2. The dioptric strength of an accessory lens, such as prescription eyeglasses or an eye loupe, must be added to the dioptric strength of the magnifier to calculate total magnification.Magnifiers are devices used to enlarge the visual appearance of an object or image. Magnifiers come in a variety of styles such as hand-held, headband, standing, clip-on, eye loupe, and those that hang in a necklace form, or fit in a trouser pocket. Magnifiers are commonly made of plastic or glass. They can have one or more lenses with varying magnification abilities, and can have a binocular configuration with a single lens, or two separate lenses. They are sometimes used with LED or fluorescent light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Magnifier ability is often expressed as magnification at a specific length. For example, 1.75X at 14" means that when a magnifier is held at 14" from a viewer's eyes...
