The Fowler 54-004-255 Xtra-Value Depth Gauge & Poly-Cal Measuring Set includes two depth gauges: the Poly-Cal Electronic Caliper (54-101-175) and the Xtra-Value Depth Gauge (54-225-555). The Poly-Cal Electronic Caliper is made of polycarbonate and has a measurement range of 0 to 6" (0 to 150mm), and a resolution (or smallest graduation interval) of 0.0005" (0.01mm), with + or – 0.008" (0.2mm) of accuracy. The Xtra-Value Depth Gauge has a measurement range of 0 to 6" (0 to 150mm), and a resolution of 0.0005" (0.01mm), with + or – 0.001" (0.025mm) of accuracy. The LCD screen for both gauges display in U.S./metric, and fractions (in 1/64" increments). The Xtra-Value gauge includes six measuring rods and has a spring-loaded measurement button with a hold function for ease of use and accurate measurements. The gauges conform to Federal Accuracy specifications. The shipping weight of the set is 1.2 lb. and it comes with a hardened case. Depth gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display. The Fred V. Fowler Company manufactures inspection and measurement instruments such as electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and digital scales. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Newton, MA.What's in the Box?Fowler 54-101-175 depth gaugeFowler 54-225-555 depth gauge(6) Measuring rods for 54-225-555Hardened case

The Brown & Sharpe Miti-Mite Mini Magnetic Base indicator holder is compatible with dial and dial test indicators, grips three ways, and has an always-on magnetic field. It is smaller than equivalent standard size Brown & Sharpe magnetic bases, for use in tight spaces. The v-base grips to flat and rounded surfaces, while the ball and socket joint at the base of the 5†long rod provides reach and orientation not possible with fixed post holders. The fine rod adjustment helps to get the indicator into place for testing with more ease and accuracy than a base without fine adjustment. The 1-1/4" square x 1-3/4" high base grips horizontally, vertically, and upside-down. For use with all Brown & Sharpe dial and dial test indicators, as well as similar indicators from other manufacturers. Magnetic bases are magnetic fixtures commonly used in metalworking to hold dial indicators, and are also used in other fields, such as optics. Magnetic bases can assist the user with setting up a workpiece in a milling machine, surface grinder, or other machine tool. The vertical post and rod in a magnetic base connect using swiveling connectors, or snugs. This allows free motion of the arm so that the dial indicator can be moved into position on the workpiece. Many magnetic bases have a V-step, which is a V-shaped notch in the base for holding the base to arbors, shafts, and other cylindrical items. The magnetic base has a circular hole through the center. A round permanent magnet is inserted into this hole, and a handle or button is attached to allow the user to rotate the magnet. Rotating the magnet turns the base on and off as this causes the position of the magnetic field to rotate as well. In the on position, the iron is acting as an extension of the magnet, while in the off position, the magnet is acting as a keeper, preventing the magnetic field from extending through the base. Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company, founded in 1833, played a key role in setting...

Telescoping gauges are used for determining the true size of holes, slots, and recesses up to 6". The ends of both contacts are hardened and ground to a radius to allow proper clearance on the smallest hole the gauge will enter. These tools must be slightly "rocked" in the hole being measured to ensure that the tool is on the proper diameter before it is locked and withdrawn. The final hole size is obtained by measuring over the gauge contacts with a micrometer.
