The calibrated Mitutoyo 129-127CAL micrometer is for measuring the thickness of items such as sheet metal, paper, plastic, and rubber parts. The micrometer has a measurement range of 0 to 4.0", graduations of 0.0001", and an accuracy of + or - 0.0002". This model has a standard scale in inches. This item has a ratchet stop to help provide uniform pressure for precise, repeatable measurements. The measuring rods can be locked for stability. This model comes with four flat-tipped, 4mm diameter, interchangeable extension rods for measuring different ranges. Mitutoyo calibrated tools include a Certificate of Calibration that provides evidence that the tool has been calibrated and is within allowable error specifications. Mitutoyo calibrated tools are certified by Mitutoyo's American Association for Laboratory Accreditation-accredited calibration laboratory (A2LA Certificate #750-01) to the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 17025 International Standard for testing and calibration laboratories. This micrometer has a satin chrome finish on the sleeve and thimble for corrosion-resistance and visibility. This unit comes with a fitted, plastic case.SpecificationsDisplay typeStandard scale in inchesExtension rodsFour flat measuring surface, carbide-tipped, interchangeable typeRange0 to 4.0"Graduation0.0001"Accuracy+ or - 0.0002"Flatness0.000024"Thimble styleRatchet stopDimensionsBase of 2.5 x 0.63 inches (W x D)Shipping weight1.35lb.W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure distances. The Fowler 54-860 series digital outside micrometer has a ball anvil/spindle pair, a choice of measuring range, and an LCD with an inch/metric switchable resolution for measuring the inside and outside diameters of sleeves, collars, tubing, and other curved and cylindrical surfaces. The ball anvil and spindle contact the curve at a single point, providing accurate measurements. Carbide measuring faces provide wear resistance. A switchable resolution of 0.00005" and 0.001mm, and an accuracy of 0.00016"/0.004mm on 1 to 2" micrometers provide precise readings and accurate measurements. A friction thimble provides smooth and quiet operations, and is suitable for one-handed operation. Friction-style thimbles stop turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. The insulated steel housing provides durability and is Ingress Protection (IP) certified IP54 for protection against dust and water. The LCD has a hold feature that saves the reading for recording. The micrometer can be set to take absolute or incremental measurements. Absolute measurements provide the total dimension of the workpiece. Incremental measurements provide a reading that shows the difference between a set standard and workpiece being measured. This type of reading is often used to determine if a workpiece falls within tolerance levels. RS-232 output transfers data to a computer (cable not included). The micrometer requires a Type 357 battery (included), and includes a fitted case. Micrometers 2" and above include a standard.
