The Fowler 52-646-600 X-tra Range Bore Gauge has a measurement range of 4 to 12" and gradient spacing of 0.0005". This direct-measuring gauge measures bores to a depth of 10" and has an insulated grip for extra stability. It uses a two-point contact system for the detection of geometry problems such as ovality and taper, and carbide-tipped contact points provided extended wear and improved abrasion resistance.Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. They can measure the interior diameter of a hole at any depth, while internal micrometers can only measure to the depth of their teeth. Bore gauges are typically calibrated with a setting ring and come in two types: simple and direct-measuring. Simple bore gauges are used with a caliper to transfer the hole measurement, while the more complex gauges take the measurement directly, and display it through a vernier, dial, or digital display. Bore gauges have a two- or three-point contact, indicating how many points on the gauge head touch the inside of the bore. Two-point contacts are better at measuring ovality, while three-point contacts are used to measure lobing or triangular form error. Pistol-grip bore gauges are used for fast, single-handed operation with repeatable results from one operator to another. Bore gauges can also be used in special applications, such as measuring threads, spline pitch diameters, and deep bores. The Fred V. Fowler Company manufactures inspection and measurement instruments such as electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and digital scales. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Newton, MA.

This Micrometer is extremely useful for measuring the wall thickness of parts such as solid and split bearings, tubing, sleeves, collars, rings, various cylinders, and also measuring from the inside of a hole to an edge. Rounded anvil which contacts the inside curved surface and a flat spindle for contacting the outside of the work, thus producing single point contact. This permits accurate gaging of curved surface thickness in thousandths of an inch.

The compact Model UTG Ultrasonic Thickness Gage can measure the thickness of a variety of materials. The UTG has a wide range of applications including industrial, automotive, HVAC, and plumbing. The UTG reads in inches or millimeters and features an adjustable sound velocity to allow for an array of materials to be measured. The UTG is useful when using any pipe mount ultrasonic transmitter. The UTG allows for the user to find the wall thickness of the pipe whe programming an ultrasonic transmitter without cutting or removing a section of the pipe to measure it. The UTG is also great for monitoring corrosion in closed vessels such as boilers and chemical tanks.

The Starrett 486 series blade-type outside micrometer has a vernier scale in inch units for taking precise outside diameter (OD) measurements, and a blade anvil and spindle for measurement of groove diameter of shafts and keyways. The spindle does not rotate during adjustment, to help provide steady positioning for measurement. A speeder helps provide quick adjustment capability. The frame is made of high-grade tool steel and has a black enamel finish for protection and durability. The vernier scale on the thimble and sleeve is graduated to 0.001â€, and has a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The spindle and anvils are made of hardened steel for durability. Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company was founded in 1880 and is headquartered in Athol, MA.
