Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company, founded in 1833, is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI.

The Fowler 52-520-109 dial indicator with hydraulic-arm magnetic base has an American Gage Design (AGD) Group 2, 2-1/4" dial face with a continuous dial, a 0.40" measuring range, 0.001" graduations, a revolution counter, and tolerance markers, and is designed to measure surface variations in fractions of an inch. The indicator is dustproof, waterproof, oil-proof, coolant-proof, and shockproof. The 0-100 continuous dial with revolution counter has a total measuring range of 0.40" and 0.001" graduations, with each revolution equal to 0.1". An adjustable bezel and dial sets the zeros the reading at any location. Tolerance markers allow operators to observe limits at a glance. The magnetic base has a 75lb. pull and a hydraulic arm that eliminates vibration and movement during use, and can be micro-adjusted on two ball sockets. An on/off lever releases the magnet. The set includes a dial indicator and granite-base stand. Dial readings with three digits, 0-10-0 for example, signify that the indicator has a balanced dial. Dial readings with two digits, 0-100 for example, indicate the dial has a continuous dial. Balanced dials are used for reading the difference from a specific surface reference point. Continuous dials are used for direct readings and usually have a larger measurement range than balanced dials. The Kapro 990V-41-24 Zeus Vision box level is 48 inches long and has an accuracy of 0.5 mm/m and a graduation (also called sensitivity) of 60 seconds. The level has three acrylic vials that are shockproof and resistant to damage from ultra-violet rays. Two vertical vials display readings on the front of the level for taking accurate plumb readings from a comfortable position. The horizontal vial is magnified and illuminated for clear readings in dim light. The ergonomic handles are non-slip, and the polypropylene and thermoplastic rubber caps on both ends have shock absorbers that protect the level from damage if dropped. The level is made of aluminum, has a polyester, electrostatic powder coating that is corrosion resistant, and an anti-stick coating for easy cleaning. Specifications Dimensions 2.6 x 48 x 1.2 inches (H x W x D) Accuracy (+/-) 0.5mm/m Graduation 60 minutes Number of vials 2, plumb; 1, level Vial material Acrylic Warranty One-year, limited H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. Levels are instruments that determine the true horizontal or vertical plane of a surface. The most common type is the spirit level, or bubble level. Spirit levels have a liquid-filled, bowed tube (also called a vial) with a bubble that moves in response to slight adjustments. When the bubble settles between marked points on the vial, it indicates that a surface is horizontally or vertically straight. Levels can have one or more vials to determine the horizontal plane, the vertical plane, or various points between, simultaneously. One example is a 45-degree angle. Some levels include a laser-line indicator that projects a horizontal or vertical beam on a surface. Bullseye levels, or surface levels, are circular, flat-bottomed spirit levels that determine whether a surface plane is level. Machinists’ levels are made of metal and have surfac...

M-D Building Products 92288 SmartTool Levels M-D Building Products 92288 SmartTool Levels Features: SmartToolâ"¢ digitally displays degrees, percent slope, and pitch to 1/10º accuracy Extremely durable, it will keep its accuracy for years with push button calibration Features audio sound at level and plumb Includes standard 9 volt battery 92288: 24" sensor module in a 60CM rail 92296: 48" sensor module in a 120CM rail Welcome to the versatile world of SmartTool. Most levels only give you information at level (0 degrees) and plumb (90 degrees) using bubbles you have to work to center visually between two lines. You can do that with SmartTool, too, but the SmartTool also lets you measure digitally, electronically, and with an actual number, at every angle, all 360 degrees of a complete circle. So installing a deck, stair rail, extending a roof or determining how much an old floor has sagged is simpler, less time consuming, and more accurate. SmartTool is simple to use. Just press the on/off button and SmartTool will show you the angle of any surface with decimal-point accuracy. The display even flips over with the level so SmartTool always reads right side up And it shuts off automatically after 6 minutes when it's not being used, all this from a standard, 9-volt battery. And, SmartTool can take abuse other levels can't, because its components are made of high strength materials and you can reset it to factory accuracy with the touch of a button. Many versatile options If you can imagine times you'd like to have both a small digital torpedo level and a longer level, the SmartTool Module fills the need. The SmartTool Module can be used as a stand alone level or it can be placed in the optional American I-beam level in lengths of 24 inches, 48 inches or 96 inches. M-D's top-quality red aluminum I-beam levels have been assured of excellence among construction professionals for more than three-quarters of a century. Easily attached or removed using only a screwdriver or coin, the...

This tool is extremely useful for scribing lines parallel to a given surface. It is made of steel and the head is hardened. The gage is securely locked by a knurled clamp screw and split bushing in the head. The marker is a square piece of thin tempered-steel firmly held against the edge of the beam by a screw. The beam is graduated a full 6" by 1/64" of an inch, and fine adjustments may be made by a slight rotating movement of the head.
