The Fowler 52-562-253 Girod horizontal test indicator has a 1" diameter balanced dial, a 0.008" measuring range, 0.0001" graduations, three carbide contact points, a 210-degree swivel range, jeweled bearings in an isolated shockproof assembly, and a one-piece anti-magnetic housing, and is designed to measure surface variations in narrow or recessed areas. The 0-4-0 balanced dial has a total measuring range of 0.008" with 0.0001" graduations. An adjustable bezel and dial sets the zeros the reading at any location. The auto-reverse mechanism has adjustable ball-bearings to provide ultra-smooth lever action. Seven fine, jeweled bearings are housed in an isolated, shockproof assembly that is separate from the outer body to provide protection from the influence of external pressure. Three 0.5" interchangeable carbide contact points have 0.040", 0.080", and 0.120" ball diameters for use on a range of surfaces, and the contact point swivels 210 degrees to reach a variety of locations. Carbide contact points provide durability for surfaces with a hardness rating below that of carbide. Three separate dovetail mounts allow the indicator to be mounted from the top, front, and back of the indicator and two dovetail clamping stems with 7/32" and 1/4" diameter provide a range of clamping options. Anti-magnetic, one-piece body construction is chrome-plated to resist corrosion. The set includes a horizontal-face dial test indicator with a balanced dial, three 0.5" long contact points with one each 0.040", 0.80", and 0.120" diameter carbide tips, one 7/32" diameter dovetail clamping stem, one 1/4" diameter dovetail clamping stem, and a fitted storage case. Dial readings with three digits, 0-10-0 for example, signify that the indicator has a balanced dial. Dial readings with two digits, 0-100 for example, indicate the dial has a continuous dial. Balanced dials are used for reading the difference from a specific surface reference point. Continuous dials are used for direct readings and usually have a larger measurement range than ...

The Starrett 230XFL series outside micrometer has a vernier scale in inch units for taking precise outside diameter (OD) measurements, and a friction thimble mechanism for uniform pressure during adjustment. The vernier scale on the thimble and sleeve is graduated to 0.0001â€. The micrometer is made of high-grade tool steel with a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The spindle and anvil have micro-lapped measuring faces for accuracy and are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. A knurled ring-type lock nut helps provide secure locking of the measurement position.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. The L.S. The Brown & Sharpe 599-603-143-3 Vernier Depth Gauge, Micrometer Type, has a measurement range of 0 to 3", and a resolution (or smallest graduation interval) of 0.0001", with + or - 0.003mm of accuracy. The vernier scale provides precise, fine measurement. This depth gauge has a hardened, precision base that is 4" long, and is used as a reference for measurements. It has a friction thimble for uniform measurements. The unit includes three, 0.125" rods. The gauge conforms to the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) 863 T2 (style T) and Norme Française (NF) E 11-097 standards. It has a satin-chrome finish for glare-free reading. The shipping weight for this gauge is 2.2 lb. and it comes in a fitted wooden case. Depth gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display.Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools.
