The Model 6.4 Vitamin D3 Meter uses a Silicon Carbide (SiC) Photodiode. Interference filter blocks most non-erythema (non-D3) irradiance from response as shown on Spectral Sensitivity Graph. Applications include measuring vitamin D dose in IU/min, measuring lamp intensity in terms of vitamin D3 production, measuring solar intensity in terms of vitamin D3 production, and comparing sources in terms of vitamin D3 production. To operate, press and hold push-button switch on face of unit. Aim sensor window in top panel of meter directly at UV source. Note reading on LCD and record if desired. Battery operation voltage is 9V down to 6.5V. Below 6.5V the LCD numbers will begin to dim, indicating the need for battery replacement. Hydrazine is a liquid chemical substance normally used in high pressure heating plants because of its properties as an oxygen inhibitor.
