The Hanna Instruments HI 8931BN panel-mount analog controller monitors electrical conductivity, has automatic temperature compensation, manual two-point calibration, and an LCD screen. The controller receives input from a probe or transmitter (sold separately) for constant monitoring of electrical conductivity from 0 to 19.99 millisiemens/cm with a resolution of 0.01 millisiemens/cm. Automatic temperature compensation (ATC) and manual two-point calibration through offset and slope trimmers provide accurate measurements and reporting. The backlit LCD screen displays measurement values for ease of calibration, process monitoring, and verification. A user-defined setpoint triggers an alarm when conductivity values are outside of an acceptable range. The controller has selectable dosing control that can be set to manual, automatic, or off for industrial process management. For safety, an over-dosing control knob provides adjustment between 5 and 60 minutes, or over-dosing can be disabled altogether. For data recording, it includes two output terminals in 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA configurations. The controller is designed for use with the HI 7635, HI 7638, or HI 3001 platinum conductivity potentiometric probes (sold separately) and an HI 8936 transmitter (optional, sold separately). The black anodized aluminum body provides durability, and the front and back panels are acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic for strength, impact resistance, and heat resistance. It comes with mounting brackets and instructions.

Conductivity meters, also known as electrical conductivity (EC) meters, measure the ability of a solution or material to conduct an electrical current. This measurement helps determine if the solution is, for example, contaminated or contains too much saline. In general, pure solutions, such as distilled water, have low conductivity. More saline- or nutrient-rich solutions, such as seawater or fertilizers, have high conductivity. Conductivity measurements are often used with total dissolved solids (TDS) measurements, which are typically expressed in ppm (parts per million). TDS consist of dissolved minerals and salts. To determine the amount of TDS, conductivity is measured, and the result is converted to a TDS measurement. Different meters provide results for conductivity, TDS, or both, and the application determines meter selection. Conductivity meters are used in research laboratories and a variety of industries, such as water-quality testing, waste-water treatment, hydroponics, agriculture, aquaculture, and cosmetics manufacturing.

Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.
