The Hanna Instruments HI 7609829-2 dissolved oxygen sensor with O-ring is a thin, gas-permeable membrane sensor that detects dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration in water samples. The sensor is designed for use with the HI 9829 or HI 98290 GPS multiparameter meter and a compatible digital probe in environmental monitoring. DO concentration values are based on the percentage of dissolved oxygen saturation, temperature, salinity, and atmospheric pressure. DO readings are compensated for the effects of temperature (using the probe's built-in temperature sensor) and atmospheric pressure (using the meter's internal atmospheric pressure sensor).

The sensor is field replaceable and easy to attach, with color-coded screw-type connectors. It has a double-junction connector and a solid gel-filled reference electrode to increase resistance. The HI 7609829-2 sensor measurements comply with standard methods 4500-0 G and EPA article 360.1.

A multiparameter meter is a benchtop or handheld device that can take multiple readings on a single sample. It measures parameters such as the pH level (acidity or alkalinity of a substance), conductivity (the amount of salts or other compounds present in water), dissolved oxygen (DO, the amount of oxygen in a liquid), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS, anything present in water other than the pure water molecule and suspended solids), salinity, resistivity, and oxidation reduction potential (ORP). Applications for multiparameter meters include water testing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, winemaking, water-treatment plants, and aquaculture. Devices with a benchtop body are often used for indoor laboratory use or in a manufacturing setting; handheld, portable devices are typically used for fieldwork. Sensors are used with a meter to measure the parameters of a substance.

Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.

  • Sensor module measures dissolved oxygen (DO) for constant reporting of common surface-water contaminants in fresh, brackish, and sea water

  • For use with the HI 9829 or HI 98290 GPS multiparameter meter and compatible digital probe (sold separately)

  • Thin gas-permeable membrane isolates sensor elements from testing solution, but allows oxygen to pass through

  • Double junction connector with a solid gel-filled reference to increase resistance to contamination

  • Sensor is field replaceable and easy to attach, with color-coded screw-type connectors
