The H-B Instrument Durac electronic thermometer is a dual-range digital thermometer with alarm and timer for measuring temperature in laboratories, food processing systems, refrigerators, and freezers. The thermometer measures temperature from -50 to 300 degrees C (-58 to 572 degrees F). The measurement accuracy is + or - 0.5 degrees C from -20 to 70 C, + or - 1 degree C from 70 to 150 C, + or - 2 degrees C from -20 to -50 degrees and from 150 to 200 degrees C, and + or - 3 degrees C from 200 to 300 degrees C. The 150mm/6 inch stainless steel probe is attached to the unit by a 1m/4.9 ft. stainless steel cable. The unit has a 99-hour countdown timer and a user-selectable high/low temperature alarm for monitoring temperature consistency. A data hold function allows the user to keep the temperature measurement on screen. This thermometer is traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology, indicating that it is calibrated to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025 levels. This H-B Instrument thermometer is used by laboratory scientists and food-service and food-storage workers.

Digital thermometers are instruments used to measure the temperature of air, liquids, or surfaces electronically. They may measure temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. Most digital thermometers use thermistors, which are small electronic resistors. Thermistors are made out of metals that conduct electricity within a certain range and become more conductive the warmer they get. A microcontroller inside the thermometer measures this electrical conductivity and converts it to a temperature, which is displayed on an LCD. Digital thermometers are used in a wide range of applications, including in laboratory settings, food service and storage, and in doctors' offices and hospitals.

H-B Instrument Company manufactures power controls, and time, temperature, density, and weather-related instruments. Founded in 1903, H-B Instrument Company is a division of Bel-Art Products, and is headquartered in Collegeville, PA.
