Nitrites are an intermediate product in the nitrogen cycle and are produced by ammonia oxidation with water, or even originate in industrial waste directly. They must not be present in drinking water. The HI96708 meter measures the nitrite content in water and wastewater in the 0 - 150 milligrams per liter (ppm) range. This meter uses an exclusive positive-locking system to ensure that the cuvette is in the same place every time it is placed into the measurement cell.
