Amprobe 38XR-A Prof DMM True RMS with Optical PC Interface

The Amprobe 38XR-A is a true rms auto-ranging handheld digital multimeter for engineers designing and troubleshooting industrial automation and control systems. It can measure and test the following: DC and AC voltage; DC and AC current; resistance; frequency; duty-cycle; temperature; capacitance; diodes; continuity; dBm and 4-20 mA loop current. The 38XR-A includes: one set of test leads with alligator clips, a user manual, a Magne-Grip Holster, a clip, magnet and strap, a temperature adapter, a K-Type Thermocouple, a 9 volt battery (installed) and a spare mA fuse 0.5A/100V. The 38XR-A TRMS digital multimeter has a port for connecting the meter to a computer (software and cable not included). The meter comes with a K-type thermocouple probe for measuring temperature. The maximum or minimum reading mode displays the highest or lowest reading in a session to track a sudden increase or decrease in readings, and the average function displays the average of the recorded maximum or minimum values. The peak + or - function records peak positive or negative values for AC current and AC voltage. The display is backlit for visibility in low light. An audible continuity sensor confirms that the circuit conducts electricity, and a diode test detects whether the circuit's diodes work properly. The hold function keeps a reading on the display, even after the meter is disconnected. An auto power-off mode turns off the unit after 30 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. Amprobe began life in Long Island, NY in the late 1940's under the name Pyramid Instrument Company. In 1960 the company name was formally changed to Amprobe Instrument Corporation. Amprobe continued to design, engineer, manufacture and distribute product from its Lynbrook, NY location until it was merged to form ATP and relocated to South Florida in late 1999.
