The Amprobe ACD-16 Pro TRMS digital clamp meter with dual display and temperature probe is a true RMS (root mean square) sensing, auto-ranging multimeter for measuring current, voltage, resistance, and frequency in electrical testing applications. It has a transformer clamp that measures alternating current (AC) to 1,000 amp. The meter comes with detachable test leads that measure AC voltage and direct current (DC) voltage to 600 volts, resistance to 1,000 ohms, and frequency to 500 kHz. The clamp has two jaws that can close around electrical conductors up to 1.77" (45 mm) in diameter to measure current without touching or interrupting the circuit. The data logging feature captures the highest and lowest readings in every one-minute time interval over a period of time up to 5,400 minutes. The meter comes with a K-type thermocouple probe for measuring temperature. The meter's backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) is visible in low light. The hold function keeps the reading on the display, even after the meter is disconnected. The auto hold feature automatically captures stable readings. The unit automatically turns off after 16 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. A finger guard on the body of the meter helps protect fingers from shock.

This true RMS (root mean square) sensing meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, such as standard induction motors and incandescent lights, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal waveform, or non-linear loads, such as electronic devices or motors, where the current or voltage has a sinusoidal non-sinusoidal waveform. It is an auto-ranging multimeter and automatically selects the correct operating range for the property being measured. The meter has a 4,000-count resolution, meaning that it can display up to 3,999 units (3-3/4 digits) before the operating range needs to be changed. It meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for Category III installations up to 600V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (such as service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building's AC power supply. The unit has a test probe holder and comes with a soft vinyl carrying case.

Clamp meters (also called clamp-on meters) measure electrical current without cutting through wires or touching or interrupting the electrical circuit. Available in handheld or benchtop models, clamp meters diagnose problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. The meter's current clamp has two jaws that fit around a conductor to take measurements. All clamp meters test for current. Some come with test leads and inputs for measuring voltage, capacitance, and resistance. They display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltages determine meter choice. Safety ratings are based on the International Electrotechnical Commission's (IEC) standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC 61010 delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating.

Amprobe manufactures electrical testing equipment for commercial, industrial, and home use. The company was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Everett, WA.
