The Mitutoyo 543-581 Absolute Digimatic electronic indicator gauge, ID-B body, is for measuring short, linear distances in harsh workshop conditions. It has a measurement range of 0 to 0.2" (0 to 5mm), a resolution of 0.0005" (0.01mm), and an accuracy of + or - 0.0008". The LCD displays in both inches and metric units, and can be rotated 180 degrees for taking measurements from different directions. The body is a back-plunger style with a 5mm-stroke plunger, for mounting onto leveling machine tool tables or inspection jigs, and for use in restricted spaces where the graduations of standard dial gauges are difficult to read. An Absolute electrostatic capacitance linear encoder helps prevent overspeed errors for taking accurate measurements. This model is Ingress Protection certified IP66 for protection against dust and water jets.

This unit has a 3/8" diameter stem and a #4-48 UNF contact point thread mount. Additional functions include zero set, preset, direction switching, tolerance judgment, hold, and alerts for low voltage, counting value composition error, overflow error, and tolerance limit setting error. This indicator gauge has a measuring force is 2.0 Newtons (N) or less. It has a battery life of approximately 7,000 hours of normal use. This unit comes with an SR-44 battery. This gauge offers serial data output (using optional SPC cables, sold separately), which increases speed and reliability of digital measurement records.
