The Thermo Scientific Spectronic 200 single-beam visible spectrophotometer has a spectral bandwidth of up to 4nm, 340 to 1000nm wavelength range, and a tungsten halogen lamp, and is used in teaching laboratories to provide students with hands-on experience with the principles and methods involved in spectrophotometry. The instrument performs automatic zero %T at startup to ensure accuracy. It has a live display of ABS and %T, and performs quantitative (Beer's Law) and OD600 cell-growth analysis. The adjustable tilt screen can be set at preferred viewing angle and folds away for storage. The wavelength setting can be adjusted in 10nm or 1nm increments using the coarse/fine adjustment knob. The built-in cuvette and test tub rack accepts 10mm square cuvettes and test tube cuvettes up to 25mm diameter. The sample compartment holds up to 250mL of spilled liquid and is removable to ease cleaning. Plastic construction resists acid solutions, and the lid covers the control panel and screen to protect against samples during loading and unloading procedures. The keypad is sealed to prevent spilled liquids from damaging the instrument. All exterior surfaces are sloped to shed spilled liquids. The instrument has two USB ports for connection to a PC (sold separately).
