Standard Spectrometer - A Quanitative Analytical Instrument for Students
Designed for students from high school up to college, the spectrometer is used to make angular measurements during the study of physics, in particular an optical spectrum. This particular model is capable of showing the intensity of the light as a function of wavelength or frequency, with the light deflection capable of being produced by means of refraction using a prism, as well as by diffraction with a diffraction grating. Both a prism and a diffraction grating are included with this spectrometer.
With its all-metal construction combined with a superb optical system, it is capable of providing years of high performance. It also features an easy to read scale, allowing students to measure the spectrum lines with a resolution of 50Å (angstrom). The telescope has a 7x magnification, and the scale features divisions that correspond to 100Å when the wavelength is greater than 5000Å, and 50Å when the wavelength is smaller than 5000Å. Other specifications include a 5.7° field of view, and a focal length of 130mm for the lens. The diffraction grating features 600 lines/nm, and the relavite aperture is 1:7.2. An instruction manual is also included, which contains a basic operating procedure and maintenance/storage instructions for the spectrometer. |
