The Thomas Digital Thermometer is used for monitoring the temperature in foods, soils, cuvettes, water baths, wastewater, and incubators. The thermometer measures temperature from -50 to 260 degrees C (-58 to 500.8 degrees F), with an accuracy of + or -1 degree C. The thermometer has a 7.25" long stainless steel probe with a diameter of 0.14 inches that is impervious to most chemicals. The probe is attached to the thermometer by a 3-ft. cable. The thermometer memory stores minimum/maximum values and has a temperature alarm that can be programmed to indicate audibly when the temperature exceeds a maximum or minimum value. The alarm sounds for one minute before turning itself off. The unit has a timer that can be set to countdown from up to 99 hours, 59 minutes. An alarm indicates when the timer reaches 0. The LCD display has 0.5" high digits for visibility from up to 10 feet away. The thermometer is traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology standards, indicating that it is calibrated to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025 levels. The Thomas Thermometer is used in food storage, scientific laboratories, and other industries that require temperature monitoring.

Digital thermometers are instruments used to measure the temperature of air, liquids, or surfaces electronically. They may measure temperature in Celsius, Fahrenheit, or both. Most digital thermometers use thermistors, which are small electronic resistors. Thermistors are made out of metals that conduct electricity within a certain range and become more conductive the warmer they get. A microcontroller inside the thermometer measures this electrical conductivity and converts it to a temperature, which is displayed on an LCD. Digital thermometers are used in a wide range of applications, including in laboratory settings, food service and storage, and in doctors' offices and hospitals.

Thomas Scientific manufactures lab supplies, equipment, chemicals, and instruments for scientific research. It is a registered contractor for the United States Federal Government. The company was founded in 1899 and is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA.
