LaMotte 2000-01 SMART Spectro Visible-Light Spectrophotometer, 350 to 1000nm Wavelength Range, 5nm Spectral Bandwidth, Quartz Halogen Lamp, 110/220VAC, EPA-Accepted
The LaMotte 2000-01 SMART Spectro visible-light spectrophotometer has a 350 to 1000nm wavelength range, 5nm spectral bandwidth, and quartz halogen lamp, and is used to perform water quality testing on open and closed water systems. The instrument measures absorbance, percent transmission, and concentration, and performs colorimetric analysis. The 5.0nm bandwidth is used for routine quality control measurements when high resolution is not required. The instrument accepts 25mm round tubes and 10mm cuvettes. The quartz halogen lamp focuses white light on a ruled grating consisting of 1200 lines/mm, which enables the light to be dispersed into various component wavelengths. The monochromator allows the user to select the desired wavelength, and mirrors and filters prevent overtones and stray light from affecting the measurement. A photodetector measures the amount of light which passes through the sample. A microprocessor controls the positioning of the grating to ensure that the correct wavelength for the test that has been selected. The RS-232 serial port is sued to export data to a Windows-based computer or a printer (sold separately). The instrument meets EPA-Accepted requirements for instrumentation as found in test procedures that are approved for the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWR) or National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) compliance monitoring programs.
H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. A spectrophotometer is a device used to measure and analyze aspects of light absorption in liquids and solids. Readings are displayed in digital or analog format. A spectrophotometer can have a handheld body for field use, or a bench-top body for laboratory applications. It may have one or more adapters to enable it to measure surfaces or liquids. A spectrophotometer is used for testing and measuring in anatomy, chemistry, agriculture, process plant, food and beverage making, homeland security, and educational applications. LaMotte manufactures analytical reagents, portable water testing instrumentation, and microbiological testing products. The company, founded in 1919, is headquartered in Chestertown, MD.
