The Mitutoyo 293 series Coolant Proof LCD micrometer has a digital single-value LCD readout that displays in metric units with resolution to 0.001mm for outside diameter (OD) measurement, and a ratchet thimble mechanism that helps provide precise, repeatable measurement. The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurements at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. On some models, an output jack transmits Statistical Process Control (SPC) data results to a computer or external device through an interface cable (sold separately). The electronics housing has an Ingress Protection 65 (IP65) rating, which means that components are resistant to penetration by dust and debris, and resistant to penetration by liquids and coolant up to the force of a low-pressure (to 30 kilonewtons/meter-squared) water jet.. The spindle and anvil have flat measuring faces and are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. A spindle lock helps provide secure locking of the measurement position. The micrometer includes, and is powered by, a single SR44 silver oxide battery, and comes with a fitted case for storage.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The Mitutoyo 103 series outside micrometer has a vernier scale in inch units for taking precise outside diameter (OD) measurements, and a ratchet-stop mechanism for uniform pressure during adjustment. The micrometer’s frame has a heat-insulated frame to help reduce temperature-related expansion or contraction. The vernier scale on the thimble and sleeve is graduated to 0.001â€, with a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The spindle and anvil have flat measuring faces and are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. Starrett Micrometer Part # 50932 230P This is the jewel of precision micrometers used by skilled workmen worldwide. The spindle and anvil are sized at .235" (6mm) to reach places most micrometers cannot reach. Headquartered in Athol, MA, in the heart of New England, where manufacturing began and evolved into what it is today, Starrett has a history and reputation so rich and solid that the words quality and Starrett are virtually synonymous. The broad Starrett product line includes precision tools micrometers, calipers, rules, tape measures, levels, electronic gages, dial indicators, gage blocks, granite surface plates, optical measuring projectors, vision systems, vises, M1 lubricant, and precision ground flat stock. Much of the Companys production is concentrated in hand measuring tools and precision instruments that many manufacturing companies, from small machine shops to Fortune 500 firms, buy for the use of their employees.
