The Mitutoyo 209 series external measurement caliper gauge has a dial display and large measuring depth for taking outer dimension (OD) comparison measurements in metric units of thickness of grooves or tubes, and other hard-to-reach external dimensions.. Depending on the model, these units come with pairings of ball contact points suitable for measuring external wall thickness of tubes, and/or chisel contact points suitable for measuring flat surfaces. The calipers’ jaws are spring loaded, which provide the point contacts with constant measuring pressure. The calipers have an Ingress Protection 65 (IP65) rating, which means that components are resistant to penetration by dust and debris, and resistant to penetration by liquids and coolant up to the force of a low-pressure (to 30 kilonewtons/meter-squared) water jet. Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inside, outside, depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, and machining. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the main scale to obtain the result. The digital caliper takes a differential by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD that displays a single value in English and/or metric units. Mitutoyo manufactur...

The Mitutoyo 209 series Digimatic caliper gauges have a combination analog/digital LCD display and large measuring depth for taking outside dimension (OD) measurements of hole diameters, thickness of grooves or tubes, and other hard-to-reach outside dimensions. Depending on the model, these units may come with either ball contact points suitable for measuring external wall thickness of tubes, or disc contact points suitable for measuring flat surfaces. The calipers have an Ingress Protection 67 (IP67) rating, which ensures that components are resistant to debris and to submersion in liquid under standard conditions for up to 30 minutes. At minimum, functions include zero-set, preset, automatic power off, inch/metric, and conversion data hold. An output port transmits results to a Mitutoyo miniprocessor or computer through an interface cable (sold separately) for statistical process control (SPC). The unit comes with, and is powered by, a single AA battery that lasts approximately 350 hours with continuous normal use. Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. Starrett 1175Z Dial Indicator 81-136-1175 Groove Gauge is used for measuring inner diameter (ID) grooves and internal recesses, reads to 0.0005â€, has a dial reading of + or - 30 graduations, and a total measurement range of 0.060â€. Two sets of interchangeable jaws measure to gauging depths of 1.25†and 2.50â€, and three sets of interchangeable contacts are used with 0.375†- 6.00†bore diameters, 0.100†- 0.265†groove depths, and 0.024†- 0.051†groove widths. The moveable gauging contacts have a 1/2†retractable range, are made from hardened steel and have a chrome finish for long life, and flush ends for gauging blind holes. The fixed lower jaw supports the weight of the gauge and the operator’s hands, preventing incorrect gauging pressure and false readings. A fine adjustment screw and lock help provide additional accuracy. Dial indicators, also called dial gauges, dial calipers, and probe indicators, are precision measuring tools used to measure small linear distances and object sizes. The dial magnifies the measurement for readability by the human eye. They are frequently used in manufacturing, laboratories, and other industrial or mechanical fields, and are suitable anywhere a small measurement must be taken and recorded or transferred, such as checking the variation in tolerance of a workpiece. Dial test indicators are very similar to dial indicators, except that the axis of measurement is perpendicular to the axis of the indicator. Standard dial indicators measure the displacement along the axis of the indicator. Dial indicators can be analog, with a mechanical dial, or electronic, with a digital display. The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company was founded in 1880 and is headquartered in Athol, MA.
