Fowler 52-585-125 mag base with AGD white face dial indicator set, 0-1" measuring range, is designed to measure variations in thousandths (0.001"). The American Gage Design (AGD) Group 2 dial indicator has a 2-1/4" continuous dial with a reading of 0-100, a revolution counter, a total measuring range of 0-1" and 0.001" graduations, with each revolution equal to 0.1". The set includes a dial indicator, magnetic base and fitted storage box. The magnetic base has an 85lb. pull and the ability to mount test indicators with a 1/4" post. The base is 2 x 2-11/32 x 1-13/16 inches (H x W x D) and has a V-shape for mounting on round surfaces. (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back). Dial readings with three digits, 0-10-0 for example, signify that the indicator has a balanced dial. Dial readings with two digits, 0-100 for example, indicate the dial has a continuous dial. Balanced dials are used for reading the difference from a specific surface reference point. Continuous dials are used for direct readings and usually have a larger measurement range than balanced dials. H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. Dial indicators are also called dial gages, probe, and electronic indicators. These precision instruments measure small linear distances and object sizes. The dial magnifies the measurement so that it can be easily read by the human eye. Frequently used in manufacturing, laboratories, and other industrial or mechanical fields, dial indicators are used anywhere a small measurement must be found and recorded or transferred, such as checking the variation in tolerance of a workpiece. Standard dial indicators measure the displacement along the axis of the indicator. Dial test indicators are very similar to dial indicators, except that the axis o...

The Fowler 52-244-301-1 outside micrometer has a digit display with a secondary Vernier scale, a 0 to 1" measuring range, and a ball anvil/spindle pair for measuring the inside and outside diameters of sleeves, collars, tubing, and other curved and cylindrical surfaces. The ball anvil and spindle contact the curve at a single point, providing accurate measurements. The digit display has a 0.001" resolution and the secondary Vernier-scale has 0.0001" graduations for precise readings. An overall accuracy of 0.00016" provides accurate measurements. The ball-style anvil is hardened and precision-ground to provide wear resistance. The hardened, ground, and lapped spindle thread provides smooth movement, accuracy, and long life. The positive locking nut on the spindle locks measurements in place for accurate readings and the zero adjustment on the sleeve ensures accurate measurements. The ratchet-stop thimble can be used independently of the friction thimble. It provides an audible sound and stops the spindle from turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. The baked-enamel frame is heat-insulated to provide durability, long life, and resistance to temperature-related expansion and contraction. The micrometer includes a wrench and a fitted case. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to...

The vernier calipers incorporates a main scale and a sliding vernier scale, This instrument may be used to measure outer dimensions of objects (using the main jaws), inside dimensions (using the smaller jaws at the top), and depths (using the stem).Calipers with a dial are much easier to read than the old dial-less slide vernier calipers.Very useful in measuring beads, jewelry or other small items, also can be used in many other trades.

The Fowler 54-225-500 X-Tread tire gauge has a measurement range of 0 to 1" (0 to 25.4mm) with a resolution of 0.0005" (0.01mm), and is designed specifically to measure tire tread groove depth. The easy-to-read LCD screen displays in U.S./metric. The spring-loaded gauge has a hold-measurement button for ease-of-use and comes with a vinyl holster. This tire tread gauge is suitable for precise measurement in a variety of manufacturing and mechanical engineering applications. Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display. The Fred V. Fowler Company manufactures inspection and measurement instruments such as electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and digital scales. The company, founded in 1946, is headquartered in Newton, MA.
