The Hanna Instruments HI 981002 is a portable milliamps (mA) simulator and calibrator with a single-line LCD, passive calibration or active simulation of mA, passive or active measurement testing of mA, and has extended use with the included 9V battery or 12VDC adapter. This device provides two drive modes: passive drive/calibrator and active drive/simulator. The passive drive/calibrator mode calibrates mA with manual adjustment of the process meter. The active drive/simulator mode both calibrates and provides power to the bus communication. Power is provided through the included 12VDC adapter. The device also has two measurement modes: passive measurement/tester mode and active measurement/tester mode. The passive measurement/tester mode measures and displays the mA (or pH) values transmitted by the process meter. The active measurement/tester mode measures while providing voltage to the 4 to 20 mA bus. Selection between drive and measurement modes is through a switch on the front panel and two dials allow for quick adjustment of the current. The single-line LCD displays the current reading. The 9V battery provides approximately 1600 hours of continuous use. The input resistance is 20 Ohm. The device has a 200 mA, 250V fuse. The device comes with a 1m connection cable, 9V battery, 12VDC power adapter, and instructions. These Hanna Instruments benchtop metersfeature up to five-point calibration, on-screen calibration instructions, Cal-Check function, capability to log up to 400 samples, and a USB connection to download data. A pH meter is commonly used to measure the pH of substance such as water, food, beer, or wine in lab, industrial, and food applications. A large backlit LCD screen provides graphical instructions for calibration, and the Cal-Check function ensures proper calibration prior to taking a reading. Calibration is five-point, with either seven standard (1.68, 4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18, 10.01, 12.45) or five custom buffers. A Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) feature displays the last calibration data. A hold feature freezes the display and records results and the meter can log up to 400 samples. The meter has a USB connection for downloading data to Windows. A pH meter, also called a sensor or tester, is a device used to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. A pH meter has either a portable or a benchtop body. Many portable meters are handheld devices. Some testers have an internal sensor, and may have a tip and body that fit inside of a container for measurement. A meter is commonly used in many different environments, from laboratories to field research and manufacturing facilities. Researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists use a pH meter in aquaculture, agriculture, wine-making, and water-testing, and for scientific applications. Some pH meters may measure additional parameters such as dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity (also called electro-conductivity or EC), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity, resistivity, or oxygen reduction potential. Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001.

The Thermo Scientific Orion 9109WL triode pH probe is a gel-filled, combination electrode that measures pH and temperature with ATC, has an epoxy body, a wick junction, and a waterproof E DIN connection with a 6 m cable and banana plug connectors. The 9109WL is gel-filled for low maintenance, and measures pH and temperature with automatic temperature compensation (ATC). The permanently-gelled Ag/AgCl (silver/silver chloride) electrolyte produces less noise (unwanted voltages) than gold or purely silver electrodes, and requires no refills. The electrode also has an internal reference to minimize drift and equilibrium time, and a waterproof E DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) connection with a 6 m cable and banana plug connectors. This electrode is compatible with the 260A, 261S, 265A and 266S meters, and is frequently used in aqueous solutions in the lab and field. pH range is 0 to 14 (+ or - 0.02 pH with ATC), temperature range is 0 to 80 degrees C (32 to 176 degrees F) and body dimensions are 120 mm (length) x 12 mm (diameter), with a 6 m cable. Buffer and storage solutions are sold separately. pH electrodes are used in pH meters and testers to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. They are often constructed of glass, which senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter. Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, consumables, and software under the Thermo Scientific and Fisher Scientific brands, among others. The company was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Waltham, MA.
