The Mitutoyo 350 series Digimatic micrometer head has a single-value LCD readout that displays in metric units with resolution to 0.001mm. It is available with a plain stem for mounting in a fixture with a split-body clamp or setscrew, or a clamp-nut stem for quick mounting. The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurements at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. It also has a function lock and two presets. The micrometer has Statistical Process Control (SPC) data output to transmit results to a computer or external device. The output jack transmits SPC results to a computer through an interface cable (sold separately). The micrometer has a satin chrome rust-resistant finish. A spindle lock helps hold measurements in place. The micrometer includes, and is powered by, a single SR44 silver oxide battery.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. Micrometer heads are for mounting in fixtures, where they are typically used for measurement, or as stops or feeds.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and systems. The company was founded in Tokyo in 1934 and formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963, which is headquartered in Aurora, IL.

The Fowler 54-850 series digital outside micrometer has a flat anvil/spindle pair, a choice of measuring range, an LCD with an inch/metric switchable resolution, and is designed for general purpose measuring. A switchable resolution of 0.00005" and 0.001mm, and an accuracy of 0.00016" on 1 to 2" micrometers provide precise readings and accurate measurements. A friction thimble provides smooth and quiet operations, and is suitable for one-handed operation. Friction-style thimbles stop turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. The insulated steel housing provides durability, and an ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) housing protects electronic components against impact and provides electrical insulation. The LCD has a hold feature that saves the reading for recording. The micrometer can be set to take absolute or incremental measurements. Absolute measurements provide the total dimension of the workpiece. Incremental measurements provide a reading that shows the difference between a set standard and workpiece being measured. This type of reading is often used to determine if a workpiece falls within tolerance levels. An automatic shut-off feature extends battery life. RS-232 output transfers data to a computer (cable not included). The micrometer requires a Type 357 battery (included), and includes a wrench and a fitted case. Micrometers 2" and above include a standard. The Starrett 663 series heavy-duty micrometer head has a wide-diameter spindle, stem, and thimble for heavy-duty use, and a vernier scale in inch units for taking precise measurements to 1â€. It also has a knurled ring-type lock nut to hold measurements in place. The micrometer has a plain stem for mounting in a fixture with a split-body clamp or setscrew. The vernier scale is graduated to 0.001†or 0.0001†depending on the model, and has a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The spindle is made of hardened steel to help provide durability, with a flat measuring face suitable for measurement or use as a stop, and is micro-lapped to help provide accuracy.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances.
