The Hanna Instruments HI 7609829-3 EC sensor with O-ring is a 4-electrode conductivity sensor that provides stable conductivity readings in environmental monitoring of lakes, rivers, seas, and urban waters. The sensor is designed for use with the HI 9829 or HI 98290 GPS multiparameter meter and a compatible digital probe in environmental monitoring. The sensor uses polarographic measurements for stable conductivity readings, and provides conductivity measurements from 0.0 to 1000 formazin nephelometric units (FNU). It can also provide measurements for absolute conductivity, temperature-corrected conductivity, salinity, sea water, and water hardness, such as minerals, salts, metals, cations, or anions dissolved in the water. The sensor is field replaceable and easy to attach, with color-coded screw-type connectors. It has a double-junction connector and a solid gel-filled reference electrode to increase resistance to contamination.SpecificationsConductivity (EC) range0.0 to 200.0mS/cm0.0 to 400mS/cm (absolute)0.0 to 1000 FNUTemperature range-5 to 55 degrees C/23 to 131 degrees FDepth rating20m/65ft.Dimensions111 x 17mm/4.4 x 0.66 inches (H x W)H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right.A multiparameter meter is a benchtop or handheld device that can take multiple readings on a single sample. It measures parameters such as the pH level (acidity or alkalinity of a substance), conductivity (the amount of salts or other compounds present in water), dissolved oxygen (DO, the amount of oxygen in a liquid), temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS, anything present in water other than the pure water molecule and suspended solids), salinity, resistivity, and oxidation reduction potential (ORP). Applications for multiparameter meters include water testing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, winemaking, water-treatment plants, and aquaculture. Devices with a benchtop body are often used for indoor laboratory use or in a manufacturing setting; handheld, ...

The YSI 005565 is a pH and oxygen reduction potential (ORP)/mV sensor for the YSI 556 portable pH meter and has a glass bulb, sealed gel reference, storage bottle with storage solution, and inserts in the 5563 probe module and cable assembly. A pH electrode is commonly attached to a pH meter to measure the pH of a substance such as water, food, beer, or wine in lab, industrial, and food applications. This electrode has a glass bulb for use in highly corrosive environments and high temperatures. The sealed gel reference eliminates refilling. The electrode inserts into the 5563 probe module and cable assembly. The electrode has a pH range of 0 to 14. The electrode comes with a storage bottle, storage solution, cleaning certificate, and instructions. An electrode, also called a sensor or probe, is an instrument used with a meter to test and measure parameters of a substance. All electrodes are probes or sensors, but not all probes are electrodes or sensors. Probes, such as temperature probes, are used to penetrate a material for measurement. Common electrode types are pH, total dissolved solid (TDS), and ion selective electrode (ISE). Electrodes can be half-cell or full-cell (also called combination) types. They can be refillable or non-refillable. Housing material is typically glass or epoxy, and sensors are commonly made with stainless steel or a glass bulb. pH electrodes, which measure the pH of a substance, often have a glass bulb. The bulb senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter. Ion selective electrodes (ISEs) respond selectively to ions in the presence of other ions. Electrodes are commonly used by researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists in a wide variety of industries, such as aquaculture, agriculture, chemistry, food and beverage, wine-making and water-testing, and for scientific applications. An electrode can be used with a datalogger to assist in temperature measurement.YSI manufactures instrumen...

pH electrodes are commonly designed to produce and output signal equal to 0 mV when immersed in a solution with pH 7. But a constant output value at pH 7 occurs as a result of certain adverse events, such as: A broken bulb in the pH electrode, A short circuit in the cable or connector, or Magnetic force leakage in the cable or connector (for example, in case of excessive humidity).
In these situations, the instrument displays a false reading at pH 7 and the user may not be aware that corrective measures are necessary; particularly if the user is anticipating a pH neutral reading. To avoid this problem, HANNA® developed F.S.T. technology for HI 9813-6. With this special security system, a system failure will force a fixed value close to pH 4, rather than pH 7, and render the problem clearer to the user.
For added confidence in your measurements, the meter is equipped with two LEDs and a "CHECK" button. While pressing this button, upon immersing the electrode in the Cal-Check solution HI 50021P, one of the LEDs will light up to indicate the status of the meter. The green LED ("OK") indicates the probe is working correctly, while the red LED ("C&C" Clean & Cal) indicates the electrode needs attention.
