The Fowler 52-244-601 EZ-Read outside micrometer has a digit display with a 0.0001" resolution, a 0 to 1" measuring range, and a ball-style anvil/spindle pair to measure the inside and outside diameters of sleeves, collars, tubing, and other curved and cylindrical surfaces. The ball anvil and spindle contact the curve at a single point, providing accurate measurements. The digit display has a 0.0001" resolution and an accuracy of 0.0002" for precise readings and accurate measurements. Hardened, ground, and carbide-tipped measuring faces provide wear resistance. The hardened, ground, and lapped spindle thread provides smooth movement, accuracy, and long life. The locking lever on the spindle locks measurements in place for accurate readings. A friction thimble applies constant force for repeatability between users. Friction-style thimbles are suitable for one-handed operation and stop turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. The micrometer includes a wrench and a fitted case. SpecificationsDisplay type Digit Anvil/spindle style Ball anvil/spindle pair Measuring range 0 to 1" Graduation interval 0.0001" Accuracy 0.0002" Thimble style Friction Anvil/spindle diameter 0.256"Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. The Fred V. Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. They can measure the interior diameter of a hole at any depth, while internal micrometers can only measure to the depth of their teeth. Bore gauges are typically calibrated with a setting ring and come in two types: simple and direct-measuring. Simple bore gauges are used with a caliper to transfer the hole measurement, while the more complex gauges take the measurement directly, and display it through a vernier, dial, or digital display. Bore gauges have a two- or three-point contact, indicating how many points on the gauge head touch the inside of the bore. Two-point contacts are better at measuring ovality, while three-point contacts are used to measure lobing or triangular form error. Pistol-grip bore gauges are used for fast, single-handed operation with repeatable results from one operator to another. Bore gauges can also be used in special applications, such as measuring threads, spline pitch diameters, and deep bores. The Fred V. Fowler Company manufactures inspection and measurement instruments such as electronic indicators, calipers, bore gages, and digital scales. The Fowler One-Rev stainless steel dial caliper has dial graduations of 0.001" with 0.001" accuracy, a sliding jaw with a lock, and a covered rack. The knurled lock screw holds the sliding jaw in position and helps ensure a consistent measurement. A covered rack prevents dirt and debris from clogging the gear, and helps prevent measurement errors. A thumb-operated fine adjustment roller allows for one-handed use. This caliper is used for measuring inside dimensions (ID), outside dimensions (OD), depth, and step. The caliper measures 0.10" per revolution of the dial. The dial has 0.001" graduations, and the beam has engraved 0.10" graduations. The hardened stainless steel components, including the bar, measuring surfaces, rack, gears, and depth rod, offer corrosion resistance, increased accuracy, and long life. Self-contained movement eliminates gear misalignment, while the dual pinion drive mechanism reduces wear on the rack and pinion. An adjustable dial enables setting zero. Spring anti-backlash control offers increased accuracy over standard gear configurations. Backlash is the amount of clearance between mated gear teeth in the caliper controls that prevents the gear teeth from jamming. It is undesirable to have much backlash due to the lack of precision offered by the increased amount of play between gears. Certain gear designs can minimize or eliminate backlash; spring anti-backlash systems use a spring to add a compressive force, thereby minimizing backlash. The hardened stainless steel is polished to a satin chrome finish, to help prevent glare. This caliper comes with a fitted case.Dial calipers are measuring instruments commonly used for inspection in manufacturing to provide the precise measurements of an object. A pair of jaws attached to a long beam with a marked scale is used to measure inside, outside, and step measurements in standard or metric units. An additional depth probe slides along the beam to take depth measurements. One jaw is fixed to the end of the scale, while the other jaw slides alon...

Fowler 52-229 series outside Vernier-scale micrometers have a choice of measuring range and a flat anvil/spindle pair for general purpose measuring. The Vernier scale has 0.0001" microfine graduation intervals on a satin chrome finish for precise readings. The positive locking nut on the spindle locks measurements in place for accurate readings and the zero adjustment on the sleeve ensures accurate measurements. The anvil/spindle pair have 0.256" diameter hardened, precision-ground, and micro-lapped carbide measuring faces with 0.00003" flatness and 0.00005" parallelism on 0 to 1" micrometers to provide accurate measurements. Friction thimble with ratchet stop applies constant force for repeatability between users. Friction-style thimbles are suitable for one-handed operation and stop turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. The ratchet-stop thimble can be used independent of the friction thimble. It provides an audible sound and stops the spindle from turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. The heat-insulated frame helps reduce temperature-related expansion or contraction, providing accurate measurements, and protects the operator's hands from heat. The set includes 0 to 1", 1 to 2", and 2 to 3" micrometers, 1" and 2" standards, a wrench, and a fitted case.
