The HI 8734N is a portable, water-resistant conductivity meter suitable for lab or field use in the water conditioning industry. It is used specifically in softening, demineralization, reverse osmosis, and drinking water applications. The meter features three ranges of measurement to ensure accuracy, and Manual Temperature Compensation. The ratio between conductivity and TDS is factory set at 0.5. Manual calibration can be performed at one point through the TDS knob, and calibration sachets are included. Range is 0.0 to 199.9; 0 to 1999 mg/L and 0.00 to 19.99 g/L + or – 1% full scale at 20 degrees C, with resolutions 0.1; 1 mg/L and 0.01 g/L. The device operates on a 9V alkaline battery. Dimensions are 145 x 80 x 36 mm/5.7†x 3.1†x 1.4’’ (H x W x D), and weighs 230 g (8.1 oz.). TDS meters indicate the amount of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in a solution. Since dissolved ionized solids like salts and minerals contribute to the conductivity of a solution, a TDS meter measures the conductivity of the solution and converts it to an estimated TDS reading. The instruments are commonly used in the water conditioning industry. Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standards. What’s in the Box?
