The Brown & Sharpe LCD outside micrometer head has a single-value LCD readout that displays in inch and metric units with resolution to 0.00005†(0.001mm). It has a plain stem for mounting in a fixture with a split-body clamp or setscrew. The micrometer has a flat measuring face for measurement or use as a stop, and is tungsten carbide-tipped for wear resistance. The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurements at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. It also has a function lock and two presets. The micrometer has Statistical Process Control (SPC) data output to transmit results to a computer or external device. The output jack transmits SPC results to a computer through an interface cable (sold separately). The micrometer includes, and is powered by, a single CR2032 lithium cell battery.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. Micrometer heads are for mounting in fixtures, where they are typically used for measurement, or as stops or feeds.Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company, founded in 1833, played a key role in setting industrial standards in the United States. Brown & Sharpe was acquired by Hexagon Metrology in 2001, and is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI.

The Mitutoyo 293 series Coolant Proof LCD micrometer has a digital single-value LCD readout that displays in inch and metric units with resolution to 0.00005†(0.001mm) for outside diameter (OD) measurement, and a ratchet-stop mechanism that helps provide precise, repeatable measurement. The micrometer’s electronic microprocessor can hold measurements at any position, convert to absolute value, set a temporary zero position, and return to a true zero reading. An output jack transmits Statistical Process Control (SPC) data results to a computer or external device through an interface cable (sold separately). The electronics housing has an Ingress Protection 65 (IP65) rating, which means that components are resistant to penetration by dust and debris, and resistant to penetration by liquids and coolant up to the force of a low-pressure (to 30 kilonewtons/meter-squared) water jet.. The spindle and anvil have flat measuring faces and are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. A spindle lock helps provide secure locking of the measurement position. The micrometer includes, and is powered by, a single SR44 silver oxide battery, and comes with a fitted case for storage.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances.
