The Reed ST-9902N is a voltage and continuity tester with non-contact AC voltage detection, seven LEDs to indicate voltage, a beeper to indicate continuity, and a safety rating of Category III 600V. It has an AC voltage range of 12V, 24V, 48V, 110V, 230V, 400V, and 690V; a DC voltage range of 6V, 12V, 24V, 36V, 48V, 110V, and 220V; and a continuity range of 0 to 85kΩ. The tester runs on two AA batteries (included). Voltage testers detect electrical current in cables, cords, circuit breakers, switches, wiring, and other components of electrical systems. They can test for live circuits, proper grounding, adequate voltage, and flowing current. They might be used by homeowners to test electrical outlets or by linemen to test power lines. Available in a variety of styles and levels of sophistication, some models simply indicate the presence of electrical current, while others record or display the level of voltage conducted. Some have additional capability such as the ability to perform continuity tests.Reed Instruments manufactures test and measurement equipment. The company, founded in 2004, is headquartered in Wilmington, NC.
