The Starrett S579HZ set of six telescoping gauges measures 5/16 to 6" holes, slots, and recesses in woodworking, metalworking, machining, layout, and pattern-making applications. The four gauges measure from 5/16 to 1/2", 1/2 to 3/4", 3/4 to 1-1/4", 1-1/4 to 2-1/8", 2-1/8 to 3-1/2", and 3-1/2 to 6". Each gauge has two spring-tensioned telescoping plungers for uniform contact pressure. The self-centering handles are rigidly attached to contact plungers. Five handles measure 2-3/8" and one handle measures 3-1/4" in length. A lock at the end of the handle secures the gauge width for measurement with a micrometer (sold separately). The gauge set comes in a protective case for storage. The L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The Mitutoyo 511-128-05 Dial Bore Gauge has a measurement range of 50 to 100mm. This direct-measuring gauge uses a two-point contact system can be used to detect geometry problems such as ovality and taper and carbide-tipped contact points offer extended wear and improved abrasion resistance. This gauge is for use with Mitutoyo dial indicators (sold separately).Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. They can measure the interior diameter of a hole at any depth, while internal micrometers can only measure to the depth of their teeth. Bore gauges are typically calibrated with a setting ring and come in two types: simple and direct-measuring. Simple bore gauges are used with a caliper to transfer the hole measurement, while the more complex gauges take the measurement directly, and display it through a vernier, dial, or digital display. Bore gauges have a two- or three-point contact, indicating how many points on the gauge head touch the inside of the bore. Two-point contacts are better at measuring ovality, while three-point contacts are used to measure lobing or triangular form error. Pistol-grip bore gauges are used for fast, single-handed operation with repeatable results from one operator to another. Bore gauges can also be used in special applications, such as measuring threads, spline pitch diameters, and deep bores.Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems. The company, founded in Tokyo in 1934, formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963 with headquarters in Aurora, IL.

The Mitutoyo 526-127 Dial Bore Gauge for Extra Small Holes has a measurement range of 10 to 18 mm. It is accurate to + or - 0.004 mm and precise to 0.01 mm. This direct-measuring gauge uses a split ball design to measure the inside diameter of holes and identify out-of-roundness problems with stainless steel contact points for high wear resistance. The gauge stem diameter is 8 mm.Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. The Starrett 690-3Z Hole Gauge Dial Bore Gauge has a measurement range of 0.130 to 0.230" and gradient spacing of 0.001". The gauge can be pressed down on a flat surface and checked so the size reads the same as the set number stamped on the back of the indicator. The balanced design makes for easy one-handed operation and all ground surfaces are made of hardened tool steel for durability.Bore gauges measure holes, or bores, in a workpiece. The Starrett 824 series fixed range vernier inside micrometer has an adjustable sleeve and adjustable contacts on the thimble end help provide accurate measurements, and a vernier scale in inch units for making precise measurements. A knurled thimble helps provide secure grip, and the handles are heat-insulated to help reduce temperature-related expansion or contraction. The vernier scale is graduated to 0.001†and a knurled ring-type lock nut holds measurements in place. The micrometer has a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish.Micrometers are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. The L.S.
